this series was right before the 2007 WC..Aus lost 0-3 and for a moment, as an Indian, it seemed like Aus can be beaten and are vulnerable going into the WC because the nightmare of the 2003 WC final was still afresh..the thing many didn't consider was against NZ in this series, Aus didn't play with big players especially Ponting and Mcgrath..come the WC, Aus literally destroyed every other team and won the WC so effortlessly that it seemed pointless to organize a WC

I remember watching this series live on TV. It was a crazy series with all high scoring games. NZ mostly managed to trump Australia by the narrowest of margins in terms of runs & wickets. Australia were a champion WC winning team back then, but Kiwis were an equally resolute lot.
