White people have afro type hair also. Jimmy Hendrix's has one-two white guys in his band. Red, blonde are the usual colors. Its a neat hair style. And natural. I added four black Barbie's to our dolls for the hair. Natural. The skin color varies light to dark. The darkest was my favorite when I opened it one leg is shorter. The next barbie inclusion doll? I need a thicker sole on one foot..the shoes. The afro is good though..I would say excellent..

There is a saying, at least in my area. "You pay for what you 'can't/don't know how/don't got time' to do. So I am soo glad this 'Fro hack really works but for dolls who have hair that is beyond saving, please don't be afraid to give rerooting them yourself a try. It really can be very very satifying ( and cost effective).

Biracials have nappy hair too. Look at Doja, she shaved her head just so she doesn't have to deal with it. A lot of them relax their hair to look more exotic but I'm not finna trip over a light bright in a afro.

I remember hearing about a similar method in the 90s when I started collecting, and before KZfaq, but I hadn't seen it since those days and I never dared try it - but your doll looks so awesome I might try it on one of my dolls!

I found your channel because of this video, and I’m a little shocked that you didn’t know about this way of curling your dolls’ hair. I’m new to this hobby and I’ve seen it done for years now. I have done it on several occasions. It saves me the time and headache of rerooting dolls every time. I’m so glad that you have found this technique and I hope you enjoy your fun with it in the future. 😊😊😊

She looks pretty white and has very pretty pink hair, but the texture is just like straw. :D My other way out with her s braids, but I am afraid to do it for the same reason.

Yeah I'm just salty about the death of forumsaand hobbyists getting dispersed, i'd have hooked you up with this technique anytime if forums were still around. It's not perfect for bigger curls as the ends end up flat but one of the easier ways (i use croc clips and dip the doll inside a baggie to keep her dry when possible)

The water has to be boiling hot and it needs to soak for a few minutes and you have to let it dry completely before you unravel
@DiannelLaird
@DiannelLaird 10 ай бұрын
@@BarbiesGBFI wonder if you did the boiling water and then ice water, if that would help lock the curl. Then allow it to completely dry.
@dolljunk

For saran hair I find letting the doll hair soak in the hot water until the hot water cools down exposes the hair to a much longer heat time and locks the curl in better than doing a hot water then ice water dunk. Saran is naturally straight so doing it for a longer time works better.

THANK YOU for the disclaimer! We are at the point in evolution that you can't make assumptions about someone's ethnicity by looking at them, and having dolls to represent everyone is so important! I went to school with a "white" girl - blonde hair, blue eyes - who's hair was so naturally curly, she had a better afro than most of the dark skin girls. My brother in law (also white) is the same way, and there's a Scottish KZfaqr who appears white, but he also has a natural fro if he doesn't keep hair cut.

@@TroubledGothMime when I made my original post, it was on my mind that the none of the 3 white-appearing people I knew were probably never given any trouble over their hair, and that is so unfair. White people have a long history of copying what they like from other cultures, making them trendy and stylish, while simultaneously counting them as faults in the people who originated them. It's insane.

I don’t think anyone said that. Not all white people have Afro textured hair, but most black people will. And even then, sometimes white people just have really tight curls. They don’t usually have the thick wirey hair that dark skinned people have.

@@ChampagneKanyon oh sorry how else am I supposed to call that hair style if I don't wanna use the derogatory term "cauliflower on their head" that is often used here for that type of hair please do enlighten me. And "nobody said that"? So many people do. So many people (who often happen to not be black) argue that very tight curl patterns are not naturally found in people who are not black, thinking they are so good for saying that.

Yep. White and white adjacent people have curls and afros. Dunno why people act like they dont exist. Maybe its because having an afroand curly hair has been discouraged long enough for people to forget white people used to have it. Lol

I gotta say tbh, it’s ignorant to denote people speaking about “problematic” things to “twitter” or whatever. If you listened to black Americans then I think you’d probably realize that Afro’s aren’t a protective style and the whole discourse about whether *nonblack people* should be able to wear those hairstyles is because black Americans are reprimanded for wearing such styles in work and school settings. I don’t think being “mixed” is something that gives you leeway to spread a hateful sentiment like that lol, are you mixed as in half black or ?
