I’ve been feeling so down on myself lately as I discover my personal style, that I’ve been making mistakes, that my outfits look dumb, that I’m not stylish, etc, and that I’ve thrifted things that I ended up not liking and feeling bad for passing it along after I spent money on it, and so on. You just opened up my eyes that it’s *okay to take risks* and experiment with personal style, to have freedom to think outside the box and develop creativity with dressing. And there is so much positivity that I’ve learned along this journey of discovering my personal style. All my experiments with design lines, clothing cuts & fabrics, colors, aesthetics, and such have helped to to discover what I truly love, and what I don’t like, and even when I look back on photos that I grimace at, I can shrug and laugh and be proud of forging a path for myself into developing a personal style distinctive to myself. 💛

another comment on your very good video is also about accessories which are so important in changing a look without breaking the bank: scarves, belts and I would add more emphasis on bolder jewellery: use more ethnic or more artful jewellery , choose between a necklace or a bracelet or earrings or a watch (not all at once).It is even more important in very simple and minimalist outfits so we don't get bored with them. We can shop and help the local jewellery makers, the local artisans in our choices.

I am so lucky that my mother is a tailor. Since I was little she has been making most of my clothes, so they have always fit me perfectly (apart from being made right after my taste). The downside is that when I do have to buy clothes nowadays I am so picky! It’s actually really hard to find clothes that fit your body perfectly, no matter your size. And now that I know better I can’t settle for less.

I am however in love with silver jewellery and can't make gold suit me, so I can't get myself to take that advice, but perhaps I will invest in platinum gold jewellery in the future? I wish I could wear gold jewellery - I could until I was in my 40s then my ears grew to double there size with my earrings then a rash from chains and rings. I wear jewellery over clothes and have a platinum wedding ring. Love your tips, I was lucky my mum worked for a large UK company (Marks and Spencer) and had the Jacky Kennedy view that less is more, good shoes and good quality coats ( she said choose wisely you will have to wear this for many years) .

Thank you for your videos. You give wonderful tips. I spent many years trying to look like someone I was not. Over the last years I tried several times to become more "ladylike". Dresses, skirts, high heels, ballet flats. But almost always felt uncomfortable, vulnerable, out of place. I was trying to become closer to the usual idea of what a "feminine woman" looks like. Finally at 30 years old, I accepted that I am more of a tomboy, prefer pants and tailored pieces with straight and clean lines without frills, and flat shoes. With second hand shopping I have been able to play with clothing and experiment to see what works or not for me. It is a wonderful way to have access to quality pieces, that I would not be able to afford new.

I've never really been a clothes horse. My style hasn't changed a lot since the 70's I still feel comfortable with the Hippy look but spice it up nowadays with a Camilla here and there for special occasions with a long beaded hippy wrap of course lol.
