Love this mentality of keeping things…the drastic closet clean out obsession has caused us to over-consume to refill and I really want to focus on restyling or re-falling in love with pieces after putting them away for a few months/years! Thanks Laini!

omg finally a voice of reason, I literally get so annoyed when people claim something is 'timeless' ... nothing is and that is okay. People only say this because everyone is so scared of the things they like being trendy or being accused that they only like something because its currently trending, but I'd argue that calling certain clothing 'timeless' and being aggressively against trends is a trend in and of itself! Trends aren't inherently bad and evil things! It's good to acknowledge when they can be harmful, but it is okay to like and wear trendy things.

I couldn't agree more. Who cares if you liked something first or after you saw a few people wearing it online / in the street. One is not better than the other. However, just to be contrarian: a white button down and straight leg jeans are probably timeless, at least for the current millennium, I would guess.

I use timeless more like a category. for example jeans are timeless but how they are cut changes over time. or the little black dress. we use this term for any small black dress

I agree so much but I'd suggest you watch youtuber Drew Joiner's video on items of clothing that are considered 'timeless', really puts things into perspective and it's very interesting!

Trend isnt bad word. Low rise stuff is trending right now, because "high" rise is kind of a default though. Its the wait of the garment being at the waist of the human.

i couldnt agree more. the only things timeless is the naked body and thats it. I know everything in my closet will be dated at some point (lots of it is already) and i do not care. when i do see some new trend that i might like, ill try it out and if i like i incorporate it into my permanent repertoire and keep wearing it. its that simple

I, a millennial, literally thought earlier today “idk why people hate on gauchos bc they ate in high school.” As a hippier/assier human, they’re so flattering, comfortable, can be dressed up and down, and they’re a fun play on length. Pro gaucho, especially if you want to experiment with shorter length pant right now.

What i appreciate about you is that you dress normal. Like yeah, occasionally there's the weird fun outfit, but most of your outfits are NORMAL. They're attainable. They're real clothes that people have. A lot of fashion youtubers have insane and unattainable outfits that just dont resonate with the average person. But if i saw you on the street, I would think you looked stylish.

Yeah I 10000% think that people getting rid of clothes constantly because they've "finally found their style" is just more consumerism. It's like those tiktoks where they say "me before I found my style and after" but it's just what was trendy then vs trendy now. Trends will come back in and there's nothing wrong with being trendy, but if that's a core tenet of your style, keep those trendy things for when they come back in 10 years! (or less these days)

that's true why do older gens like to diss so much on gen z for revisting older trends. Like the older half of gen z literally wore those items in that time period. New styles-trends are there to sell merchandise, and criticizing styles are so people will move on and spend more money. Capris do hit at an awkward length for lots of people. When something like this goes off trend people carry on about how unflattering they are when they wore them for years before. When someone is as cute as you are they don't look back and regret what they wore.

Lol if only it were true that you could somehow make your feet hardened to blisters …. I’m in my 40’s. Sadly, it’s not a thing. I inherited my father’s feet and he spent 33 yrs in wool socks and combat boots every day of his professional life and he never stopped getting blisters either. Birkenstocks can give me blisters. The wrong socks can give me blisters …. But it made me giggle when you said it and those slip on sandals are very cute. I’ve loved that style of sandal since I was a wee little thing and I will always think they’re cute. I agree about keeping your clothes. If you loved them the entire time you had them and not just for a few weeks and then forgot about them they will always be in style for you. I’d say keep them and keep wearing them even if they aren’t in style. But, ya, we get tired of things and need something different so maybe they need to be put into storage for a while but keep them. Haven’t we all loved raiding our parents and grandparents closets? Aren’t we all glad they hung onto things even if they stopped wearing them? We don’t need to go full on hoarder, but ruthlessly discarding EVERYTHING is also not great. You’ll just end up buying it again down the road and you’ll lament the fact that the original was so much better than the remake.

bike shorts make peoples asses look great! gen z doesn't seem so into emphasizing your butt tho (low rise makes everyone ass look terrible) which is fine but just something ive observed. i do think gauchos make peoples legs look terrible. but again, clothes don't need to be flattering to be fun.

Millennials and Gen X (the one between Millennials and boomers) don't hate bike shorts as much as capris or gauchos because they weren't as ubiquitous. But there's also a portion of that demographic that feels sentimental about these trends ofc. I personally don't dislike capris as long as they're the 3/4 length variety, I just can't stand the ones that end right below your knee, ugh. But I don't have to wear them ;)
