In this video Corin finishes off this Japanese White Pine (Pinus parviflora).
After completing the carving the tree gets a trim and style with wire. The mass of foliage is reduced to balance the tree out and give the tree a more natural essence.

It never fails to amaze me how less is more,, you took away so much and yet the tree takes on a more complete unit. I would assume the carving will fade and mellow fairly quick to look older. Once again Thanks and Bless you Corin.

From a bush to a tree, nicely done Corin, it's having that vision to know what to keep, what to remove and that takes years to learn. Some people keep on cutting and cutting until there is nothing left, knowing when to stop is a learned experience.

I preferred the back as the front, because the carving is the best feature by far, and the branch placement is much better. I would have the branches coming from the back and having them whipping around to the front.

Great job with the carving. Personally I prefer the deadwood to be lighter color with conifers. And as you were spinning the tree. I disagree. The front is the side with the dead wood. The foliage looks better behind the deadwood. But these are subjective preferences. The tree looks great from all sides, which it should.
@greenwoodbonsaistudio
@greenwoodbonsaistudio 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, quite subjective, for me to see all the deadwood is too much. I prefer to see some contrast of deadwood and bark. Also from deadwood side, the top of tree is going away from the viewer. The deadwood can always be lightened if new owner wishes it to be treated with Lime Sulphur etc. Glad you like the carving and vids

@nickwalters6682 Жыл бұрын
I think you missed the ball there? the deadwood carving you did was amazing, how that wasn't made to be the front i will never know. The front as you have it just shows a quarter of the dead wood, witch i think is a shame.
@greenwoodbonsaistudio
@greenwoodbonsaistudio Жыл бұрын
Because I prefer the carving not to "be in your face" but more subtle, and there if you want to look harder. Thanks though, glad you liked the carving !
