While there are places where you can experience wearing a maiko costume for a fee, it's mainly a service for tourists. When you see a maiko walking alone in the streets of Gion, Kyoto, she's the real deal. Maiko entertain guests in traditional Japanese rooms called "ozashiki," serving drinks, engaging in conversation, and performing traditional songs and dances to liven up the party. Originally, this entertainment was reserved for wealthy individuals in Japan's political and business circles and was quite expensive. However, nowadays, it's available for tourists to enjoy. Foreign visitors seem to have fun with it too. If you ever come to Japan, I highly recommend Kyoto. However, there's so much to see in Japan, and each region offers various delicious foods. Please come and visit Japan!

@@olenaboswell a maiko uses their hair while geisha use a wig. Maiko put a lot of hair ornaments. Maiko has a special kimono with very long sleeves and maiko have a long obi that almost touches the floor. Geisha has a regular kimono and shoe maiko have very heavy geta with small bells in the back. And maiko are younger than 20 and are training to be a geisha.

@@olenaboswell Maiko wear much accessories to enhance their beauty they are much younger than geisha. Geisha don’t wear a lot and is older than the Maiko
