Amazing tutorial. One suggestion: Using Metaball as object instance for the particles will give much better result.

Loved this tutorial, currently using it for my project. I was wondering one thing though. Is it possible to animate the starting point/curve guide. I want to use it on an moving cigarette, where the start point of the emitter is the tip of the cigarette. To make this work I imagine I need to parent the emitter to the cigarette and change the shape of the curve guide to update with the movement. But so far I could not find how to do this.

Great Tutorial. Would this work if I have multiple Chimneys? Or would the particles be confused as to which curve to follow?

for multiple chimneys, checking the "use max" checkbox in the curve guide settings, in order to "use a maximum distance for the field to work", and adjusting the maximum distance so that each curve only affects its respective particles emitter should do the trick

is it possible to turn this smoke back into a mesh? Like if I wanted to 3D Print some easy clouds?

yes. You can do this by selecting the emitter, going to the modifier properties tab, expand the particles modifier, and click convert. This will give you overlapping geometry however. I guess the resulting meshes will have to be edited before they can be 3D printed but I do not have any experience with 3D printing so I can't help with that part
