I love watching Todd's videos, would be cool if other members of the band would do performance videos like this too! I saw Styx perform this song on 7/24 at the York State Fair in Pennsylvania. Great number to kick off a show!

I have yet to watch one of these videos of "Todd Drumming On His Own". I've seen him live with the band. He wears me out just watching him. Good Lord. Probably the best Rock Drummer ever.

I heard Tommy Shaw mention during the cv19 lockdown that the guys were working on a new album. But I just found out today that it was released in June 2021. I am really enjoying it! Todd sure has some great drum kits and has been a top line drummer ever since they discovered him.

Many times when bands from the seventies they either the songs arn't as good as their earlier songs or they don't sound as good. I've listened to most of this album. Sounds the same as any Styx album. I' still not sure if I'll buy it yet. But I'll probably go see them in concert.

Is it possible to learn to play like this, or is it some type of ingrained talent dna thing that one is born with?
@adarcer2 жыл бұрын
Everything is learned ... talent is just learning easier IMO...

@@adarcer That's what I assumed. But...Then I watch Todd play....

A little of both, in my opinion. I've played drums casually for 30 years. I can hold down a beat just fine, and I think I have better "groove" than other players in my range. But then there's next level instinct, technical ability, and knowing when to not overplay. Basically, drumming intelligence. In my opinion, Todd has it all: great groove, technical ability, and knowing how to keep it all in control. I'm not being paid to say that. 😎
