Grambling seems to be missing the middle voice in their ballads. Now it could be the arrangement itself, but once it's all cleaned up and a middle voice is established, they will be a great contender.

A few GSU selections were suspect but still good overall. SU had some tempo issues which I feel threw off the groove of some arrangements that had great potential. I’m ever so slightly going with GSU! Great battle to both programs.

Intriguing battle. The energy was off. I felt like gsu was trying more. However SU had more fullness and effect. By no means did any band smash the other. To me it’s a damn near tie or slight SU but I wasn’t overly impressed from any particular band…… execution issues on both sides.

Is it me or only one or two tubas playing for GSU. The trumpets are just none existent. What are the first two songs? The band was playing like they didn’t know either 😂. As for SU the band members are playing what the directors have written which is high school level. Once again way too much talent for the sheet work. Southern with the W because the band members know and played their music even though the talent was none existent for the writers. Regardless of the awful writers the band members did their thing. Grambling sounds awful to me they can do a lot better I don’t think the band members really like the song selection regardless play your music.

This jive sucked. Southern was boring. Their selections and execution of arrangements were real ehhh. It feels like most of these are just being played, and lack the style and emotional direction that really make their arrangements pop. Grambling doesn't sound good. Lot of pitch issues with trumpets and baritones. I actually like the song selection from them, but the execution and the arrangements aren't there. Southern executed better in general, although they weren't perfect. I have them winning pretty clearly, but the battle as a whole was real subpar. That being said, how are y'all feeling about Juked?

Look man, I’m all for the SU slander. And they damn deserve it after this terrible season. But GSU sounds god awful. There is not one redeeming quality to GSU. Arrangements, energy, musicianship, it’s all BOTTOM TIER. They need to legitimately throw away the entire organization and start over.
