Yo i was wondering, if you smash the sub by a limiter and boost the volume wont that make the whole frequencies of your sub be at the same level too? Btw I subbed this channel after the -3db skrillex video and I’ve been binge watching all your vids man, you’re the goat of teaching DAW use on this platform without a doubt

if you like them then copy them down - usually thats not too important with the sub

Question big jerr, if you setting your ceiling at -14DB do you want all your instruments quieter to make the sub sit in the front of your mix? do you use the master to push everything to 0db at the end. how do you get a loud mix if everything is limited a -14db? Sorry still learning mastering and i think it could help some people if you explain this last part. I find when i set the limiter to -14db its super quiet in the mix and im not getting the same result.

Hi! after saw this video i tried different things and i noticed that : by putting mono+legato on serum as the same effet than the limiter. The volume doesn't not vary that much (1dB with extreme variation of notes). Why does it effect like this ?????? And i have a preset of sub bass on serum wich have only compression and distortion and then this is the PERFECT effect: perfect pinning as you talk in your video. But also, i don't undersand why... Thank you ! it was such a VERY GOOD video.

Waves L1 preferred over Pro-L2 for pinning the sub? Please elaborate on that, thanks.

honestly it doesn't matter since subs don't have much space in between the RMS and the Peak so "pinning the sub" doesn't really need to be so heavy handed. BUT if you were gonna just smash it I would go with the best limiter you have and thats probably ProL2 however the L1 has a release knob and if you open that all the way up you get much less distortion then if its left faster - but at the end of the day you don't need to over do things - hope that helps

Hi -14 DB is not a bit too weak for a sub bass?

it depends on context and relation to other instruments...if i were mixing say my kick to 0db then YES 100% -14 woudl be way to low for the sub. HOWEVER i do not mix to 0 (for headroom) i mix were my kick is the loudest thing and hitting -10db so my sub at -14 is perfect !
