Consider trying wild camping. I have a truly back breaking job that can necessitate working in horrible conditions and wild camping gives so much, its great for the soul to get out there and see the mountains.

Hope you are ok man, I think simplicity and unusual challanges are reasons I love wild camping. Also I got into UL a little bit, not just to be more relaxed on the trip but also because you choose a rather simple setup and you have to imprpvise a little. But I am not compromising on sleep and warmth! Sorry for any spelling mistakes, not a nativ here.

Yup, very relaxing. Also, being in SE Australia, we have unusually humid warm weather at present, and I'm living in a rental with no aircon. I'm watching this telling myself, "I feel cold. I am very, very cold." I hope things get better for you soon.

Paul, I think you should do a weekend wild camping trip. Just one night camping it's kind of becoming over done. Don't you think so?🤔 I think weekend trip would be more extended and we love to see how and what pack up and how much we can go in such a time fx your favourite peak district. Would be much appreciated 👍

Another amazing video Paul, I particularly loved the night time time lapse section, and your clothing choices, I never looked at the Decathlon range, thinking them too cheap to be any good, but if youre using them properly outdoors, Im sure they'll be good enough for my 3 mile walk !!, Im also thikning about oen of those Buffalo jackets, they look great. Thanks for sharing your adventures once again

Great video. I came across your channel about a month or so ago and you have really inspired me to get out. Don’t have any fancy kit but went away camping in the highlands for 2 nights last week just took 2 sleeping bags since got down to -4 plus the wind chill . Had a great time and would thoroughly recommend.

Great views Paul, I always use a Klymit V sheet over my Klymit air mat in winter. It keeps my pillow in place so it doesn’t do a bar of soap slide in the night. Also means I don’t have to put the pillow in my sleeping bag hood. ATB

He really helped me during lockdown as I found his reviews and wild camping videos a great means of escape when confined to being at home. He is always very informative and just makes you want to get out there yourself! Let’s all support him and spread the good word. Keep up the great work Paul!

Will you do multi day trips? Same content on repeat for months, camp one night, have a dehydrated meal to celebrate walking up a hill, square space sponsor, maybe do a gear review, and the cycle continues. Why not start doing multi day hiking? Those were the videos that got me hooked onto your channel. The derwent valley heritage way was a pearler of a video.

Ouch this looks like quite an endurance exercise but fascinating to watch, clearly without your professional gear you'd be dead or suffering from hypothermia. I'm watching this and thinking Christ on a bike 🚲 you guys are really doing this. You can tell it's about the challenge, I just wouldn't have the endurance skills to put myself through this level of discomfort but you've definitely peaked my interest in a bit of summer camping so kudos to you both 👍

Folks 80 years ago and beyond had no professional gear. They did just fine. I did the bulk of my camping in the 1980's, canvas tarp tent with two collapseable wooden poles, a simple campfire pit with stones around it, good wool layers (socks, pants, sweater and hat). No high-tech electronics. I did just fine. Good sleeping bag is critical.

There is something to be said for a Messner fix. When the spring arrives, I'm into the Peak District, camping a la bike, but in a secluded but picturesque fixed site. This means I can cycle all around Castleton and District, but enjoy my scaled down camping for one, with the bonus of peace, quiet and a great book. Meantime Paul's vids always fire me up ready for the arrival of Spring. Thanks Paul. Keep the faith. Dave in Doncaster.

Paul just for your information the Buffalo tops have been a favourite with special forces and mountain troop for many years....pertex (the outer fabric is one of the most windproof materials available) they as you have mentioned can be worn against the bare chest....dry quick and are loved by the paras and mountain troop.....as you know they are not waterproof yet dry quickly in wind....another favourite is the chest pocket is good for stowing maps ......it is an all round special forces loved jacket.....you can get hoods for them....though i have never bothered...but a super bit of kit...

Paul, be brave and ditch the base layer mate. It makes a difference. I've been a pertex and pile disciple for donkeys years, and its the d..s b......s for winter. I've even used it in the Arctic in -35, although now I'm in Montane Extreme smocks as they seem to fit me a bit better now. Same horse, different jockey though, and definately workmthat much better without baselayers 👍👍👍👍 Top channel mate, love it.

I'd agree to an extent. For me the Montane Extreme works best in very cold weather, and in that no base layer is best. But for standing around in as Paul was here for a time, you need to over layer on top, they can get very chilly!

Trust me! To be fair, it took me a little while to come round at first, but once I did, boom....... Yes, I agree with the comment re active/inactive, but I used to have a Buffalo Belay Jacket to put over the top when inactive. Now I have a medium Montane for active, then another in large to go over when inactive ( no, I'm not made of money either, both 2nd hand off eBay and the pair were less than the cost of one new one.

Here in the UK we are not allowed to make campfires so to keep warm in the tent i use t-light candles which i put inside my cooking pot so i dont knock them over.
