In 2023, three Subaru Ambassadors embarked on a vacation they turned into a National Park Foundation Fundraiser, off roading all over Colorado, Utah, and Texas as they cleaned up trash and raised money for the National Park Foundation. Along the way, they made two more Subaru Enthusiast friends who tagged along for the fun!
Watch the vids to check out their off roading adventures. One Subaru Ascent off roading, two Subaru Outback Wildernesses off roading, one Subaru Forester Wilderness off roading and a 2004 Subaru Forester XS off roading on 4x4 trails all over!

That Forester wheel base seems to shine in these situations

Yes it does, so very much. As does the Crosstrek Wilderness wheelbase. The Ascent takes a LOT of tactical off-roading to get through things, lol!!!

Great video and now we’re looking forward to taking our Forester Wilderness out on this road in a few months. Definitely helped us learn what challenges we may face along the way and how to get through them.

That Ascent needs a 4" to 6" lifted kit, then it'd be perfect for off roads.
@SubaruAmbassadorRobert
@SubaruAmbassadorRobert 7 ай бұрын
About 3" gives it some really nice angles. Sadly, due to issues with my coilovers, I was below stock height at this point in the video. If you look at the tail end of the vid in the link below, you will see how it sits on a 2.2/2.3" lift. I'll be on a 3" lift by the summer. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f8ioZat3v6uyonU.html

Love the Content, I just acquired a 23 accent for my wife and love your wheel/tire package. can i ask what wheels tire specs?
@SubaruAmbassadorRobert
@SubaruAmbassadorRobert 20 күн бұрын
Hi! I am running Liquid Metal Shadow 17" wheels and 245/65R17 Nitto Ridge Grappler tires (I suggest the Falken Wildpeak AT3W or AT4W instead, unless you play in the mud a lot like me). Apparently though, the Shadows changed a bit and can't fit on the 2023+ Ascents. I am still trying to confirm.

Got a question. So the all wheel drive in Subaru are better than all wheel drive system in other brands right? Is that why Subaru are able to go to more difficult places even though it is not 4 wheel drive?

How much time did the East Coast crew give themselves for this whole expedition from leaving home to their return? I'm in NJ and would like to try a similar trip in the future.

18 days total. I'd suggest less stops than we did. It was still kind of rushed (though that was in big part due to weather and coul spring repairs). Next time, we're doing Imogene Pass and Moab and Grand Staircase area. No more than that lol. Same 18 days. That way we can enjoy each spot for 4-5 days.

He didn't cut soon enough. Driver's wheel should have hit sooner, angling him up. Easily fixed though on the next attempt.

I guess you could stack some rocks to avoid digging in. Only so much you can do though with that clearance. I've seen how rock stacking helps a lot in rock crawling (I mean the hard core stuff, built up Jeeps and more) @@SubaruAmbassadorRobert
@SubaruAmbassadorRobert
@SubaruAmbassadorRobert 9 ай бұрын
@@aperture5054 it helped us a bunch too. We did do a lot of rock stacking for Mineral Creek Trail (first vid in the series) and bits for the Ascent in this vid thanks to the coil spring fail making it lower and lower in the front, by the mile. By the time the Ascent got home, the springs had drooped to an inch below stock. 🤣😭 It's tough getting each other's timing down, but we eventually figured out when we needed to tell each other to cut the wheel or go straight.

Yikes. :) In about 5 years, I'd like to get an Outback Wilderness and my plan is nothing more than 'mild' roads/trails where there's very low chance of damage or beating up the car in general. I just want something smaller than the full size 4x4 truck I have now but still very capable with plenty of room and good MPG. Ironically, the Wilderness has nearly an inch more clearance than my stock 4x4 F150. Hopefully they'll still be making the OB Wilderness in 5 years and improve it even more. @@SubaruAmbassadorRobert

@@aperture5054 if you go for more, just get Primitive Racing skids. My Ascent has been heavily abused (nothing on my channel comes close to the worst I do with it for fear someone else will try the same lol). My Primitive skids have held up for 10,000 miles of off roading. And sometimes held up the car itself, literally lol! 🤣🤪
