When Moa said she’ll always support Su. Til this day, Moa has kept her promise. Super Moa, indeed!!! Everyone needs a Moa in their lives. As emotional as Moa’s speech was. Can’t deny how equally emotional Baby-Chan’s speech was, too.

I remember always hearing about this emotional video, (at least the Moa and Yui parts) and avoiding it for a long time because of that reason. Then at one point I figured "hey I know this will have a happy ending, so I should be fine" I didn't even last a few minutes into seeing Moa start tearing up.

Nothing like a good cry on a Tuesday morning.

Su-chan kept it together pretty well this year after last year's nendo. She vowed to be a strong big sister and even here, she already shows her resolve and evolution as the oni-chan for everyone. Last year she was a big mess, this year she held it together. She laughs to cover up the emotion, but they have so many memories together, it's hard for even us to hold back dem tears, and she actually lived through their experiences. Yui-chan doesn't shed tears. She's one of those types of people who cries without tears. Watch the 2011 nendo.

These damn ninja onions again...

In case you were a little confused there are a things in the Sakura Gakuin universe that are so common they rarely get translated in the English subtitles. "Fukeis" are what Sakura Gakuin calls their fans. Fukei (pronounced "foo-kay") actually means guardian (like a father or older brother). "Nendo" is japanese for school year (or fiscal year) and is how Sakura Gakuin schedules their concerts. The Japanese school year runs from May to March. The school year begins in May with their Transfer-In ceremony which is a concert where they introduce new members and in March they hold their graduation concert where the seniors perform with them for the last time. Usually, members join Sakura Gakuin anywhere from 5th to 7th grade and when they finish 9th grade they have to leave the group. The only exception was when Suzuka graduated, another girl (Mariri) decided to leave after 6th grade to pursue her dream of being a model. She was only in the group for 1 year. Another thing that is very confusing is the fact that Japanese don't refer to the grades after elementary school as 7th, 8th or 9th grade. The first 6 grades are referred to as 1st grade of elementary school, 2nd grade of elementary school.... up to 6th grade of elementary school. Then 7th grade is called 1st grade of middle school, 8th grade is 2nd grade of middle school and 9th is 3rd grade of middle school. But in the subtitles for Sakura Gakuin videos they usually just drop the "middle school" and call 7th, 8th and 9th grade as 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade!

i had seen pieces of this but not the whole thing. what i get from this is that even then Su was a leader leading her troops into battle and getting the most out of them. you can see she is well loved and respected from all the girls. even then you can see how she can make a difference in every bodies life. and like so many others i have watched them grow up from so young and watching this is like a father to his daughter and being so proud of what she became after this. very rare do you get to watch the progression of a star from so young to now. but Su you can see that. like many other fans like me we have been so proud of them to see them grow up to be who they are today. we are a proud poppa watching over his little girls who now are not so little but very big in our hearts.

I started watching this video until I realised I was still at work. I'll definitely wait till I get home. I've seen this video more times than I'll ever admit. Somehow I still get hay fever and get a visit from those onion chopping ninjas whenever I watch it.

I already started crying during Marina's intro... We go through this every single year... this year for the last time, unfortunately. Scenes like this one prove that this is not just a bunch of kids thrown together by means of a casting process. These girls spend a very important time of their lives together, they basically grow up together. And I dare say that they go through a very condensed development compared to "normal" girls. The staff people like Mori-sensei take great efforts to develop the girls' individual characters, and I believe that that makes them grow up much faster. They share the fun times during their shows, but also the pressure of being in the spotlight and balancing that huge amount of work with their normal school lives, creating strong bonds in the process. I really admire all of them for that, and I also admire Amuse for their work with the girls. Apparently they are doing something very right.

Well done, you've survived the speeches, it should soon be time time to get you laughing with the nendo tests.

We didn't want you to watch it so we can make you cry, we just figured since we all went through it, it is only natural that you did too, as part of their story. The part that pierces your heart is Moa running to her to tell her she loves her. Yui is a stone cold killer not shedding a tear, Magz congrats on being on that level, that part makes me ball like a child. Knowing that they didn't know they would continue on as Babymetal at this point makes it a tear jerker for sure.

The story on Mariri; she and Su knew each other for some years, and Mariri joined SG. But her modeling career took off and she wasn't able to participate in SG activities much, so they graduated her with Su anyway, even though she was a bit younger.

Su-chan cried a lot after getting off this stage. She had a strong heart to cry on stage. It still seems to be her policy. And this bond of Sakura Gakuin is also connected to BABYMETAL after that.

I just turned 61 and I've watched this numerous times. I still cry every time! Baby- chan or Saki Ooga always gets me. She was such a fan of Su's and got to work with her for a whole year. Yui probably rehearsed her speech for hours and she is emotionally strong. Marina and Rinon are the bulls in the ring. Nene did very well and Raura and Hinata and Yunano were surprisingly wrecks.

This was the first graduation that I saw, and I thought it was the saddest thing ever. Then I started watching all the Sakura Gakuin stuff, and I came to the 2011 graduation. It was WAAAAAY worst. At least for me, cuz I already knew all of them, and man... I just love Ayami so much, and when I saw her leave, I lost it. I hope you can get to that too. I really suggest you to do the 2010 - 2011 SUN! Episodes. You'll be able to watch their progress from the very beginning to the end (graduation). I can give you the link with subtitles if you want. But it wasn't your fault, there was some salt water piling up in my eyes as well and I could only hear audio. Thank you for doing this videos! Great video, get's me every time. I was hoping for the full ceremony including Suzuka's Touji (even worse tearjerker for me), but that would be an 1 hour video.

Notice how throughout all the messages, Su didn't cry, or at least she held back her tears. That's due to a promise she made to one of the teachers in SG, where she said she wanted to cry less and be a strong older sister to the rest of the group. Also, there was an incident where the girls got scolded for a rather lackluster performance on one of their shows. Everyone was crying, but Su, as the student council president at the time, smiled and encouraged everyone. But, after that, Su went somewhere quiet and cried her heart out. She basically didn't want to be seen as a weak character, so she holds back tears in front of everyone, but immediately bawls her eyes out when alone.

Don't think the 2011 graduation was less tear jerking when Ayami, Ayaka and Airi graduated! Little Yui was so brave here. So don't be ashamed of tears. I cry every damn time i see this. And yes, Su's speech and those of the "teachers" are super too (even Mori-sensei teared up). Despite tears I bet you enjoyed this, we all need a bit of crying from time to time. There's however a small mistake in the subtitles. They wrote "Baby-chan" when Nene was called, but Baby-chan was actually the nickname of the smallest member Saki Ohga who stood next to her. Maybe we must get Sonny von Cleveland to react to this too (I'm so mean...)

What the shit, LVT? You held it together better than me and I watched this about 20 times now. Yui held it together big time, but you can see her lose it a few times during the Graduation song and both her a Moa had puffy eyes for most the concert. The 2nd to last song really shows all their emotions pretty well.

The emotional control of Suzuka is U-M-B-E-L-I-V-A-B-L-E. I think that caracteristic was fundamental to handle those shows with 10.000/25.000 people so quietly and sure of herself at just 16 or 17 years old. Suzuka is a very special girl/woman.

These are always great for just a cultural study. You just don't see it here. This is one that you can't show a newbie fan either, have to build up to it like you guys did. Let them invest in watching them grow up, learn about them somewhat THEN drop this hammer on them. Someone just getting into the group(s) would feel the moment like you do after watching them grow then going back to see how it started. One of the reason why it's so heartfelt is because they were through a lot that year, the girls themselves called it the dark age. The 98s - who is younger than Suu but older than Moa and Yui - had a big fight, Raura was disappoint that she wasn't in the new clubs and started whining and complaining with Nene. They get more and more negative with the other two to the point that they stressed out Rinon (that aloof girl that didn't cry) who was in the club with Marina and Hinata - you know, gossiping and snarking at them to her. The feud went on to the point that Marina wanted to quit if they can't get along anymore. Suu had several talks with them to mend their relationship.

I'm sure someone might have already said something about this, but just in case they didn't...It actually wasn't a guarantee that they would still be together as BABYMETAL. They had some things in place for that year, but it was still two years before their first album was released and there was nothing definite about them staying together after the few shows they had booked that year, so it really was a form of goodbye for Moa and Yui to Su. That leads into why Moa lost it like she did. Moa's an only child and considered Su like and older sister (still does, along with best friend of course)...Su has older sisters, Yui has at least an older brother I believe, but Moa was going to lose that bond she had with Su. It was/is reciprocal of Su to Moa as well since Su never had a younger sibling, Moa became her little sister. You can see how hard it was for Su to keep it together when Moa was speaking because of how much they care about each other even back then. She sniffles and looks up at the lights to break eye contact and keep from crying at least once. If they let Moa go last, forget it, Su would have broken completely, I think, which is something she has said she swore never to do (cry on stage). She has definitely come close a couple times, but I don't think I've seen it actually happen. Some will say during the unfinished version of "Akatsuki", but I still think that was from sweat. It's up for debate.

Yup, lost it when Moa lost it....Maybe someone can fill me in, but I get the feeling that Moa had a longer/stronger connection with Su than Yui did. Even from the Sakura Gakuin video you guys did, Moa was sitting with Su. So was Su like her mentor/big sister during that time, while Yui was under the guidance of someone else? Not to say that Yui didn't have a strong relationship with Su throughout Babymetal, but it always seems to me that Moa was more like a little sister to Su.....

just in case you forget, Yui-chan already cry at the end of the song broke and hughing Saki-chan (Aka-chan or translate Baby-chan) not to falling down T_T

If you listened, you could learn Japanese phrases like "I love you"- "Daiski desu", which means "I love it", as they say about an object like a car. The original way of saying "I love you" in Japanese is very long, "Watashi wa anata wo aishitemasu", so you just use the other form which is easier.

Loved it! I think Yui had gotten through her tears, and found her stage zen long enough to present her message. Moa is definitely more the heart-on-her-sleeve type. No matter how many times I've seen it, all of them get me watery-eyed, even the girls who were able to really keep it together, because their messages are so beautifully kind from very sweet hearts. However, it's little Saki Ooga who is always just able to destroy me outright. She really tries to keep her smile through the tears. Well, you've seen 12 year old Mariri departing SG with Suzuka. The good news is you managed to blunt the effect by not watching the last 26 minutes in one gulp. Next up, someone point them to the 2011 Graduation where Su does loose it.... the full last 26 minutes because that first song is a heart wrencher. They all loose it. :) Fair warning..... Su has an innate ability to transfer emotion.... and her cry face is devastating. :)

Having raised three girls, I am well in tune with girl feelings. I have the overwhelming urge to pick these girls up and hold them. I wonder if my girls knew that when they cried, I cried with them.

At the time it wasn't determined yet that SU was going tp stay in Babymetal everyone thought it would be like the other sub units and SU would go on to start her career and another Sakura Gakuin member would take her place luckily the fan base was so strong they decided to let her stay in Babymetal
