I miss the old days in Subic City. Back when there was no paved road. I used to go to the "Miami ( supper) Club " as it was called back then. But my primary hangout was "HIGH TIMES INN" , across from the Jupiter club and right next door to "Easy Riders". Easy Riders, was the first place I ever "barfined" . But I had a sort of steady gal from High Times. But I also visited Marilyns, Sweet Sixteen, Jupiter, Blue Diamond and International bar. Hight Times was eventually built up to a 3 story building. Had to be careful of the stairs!! lol,,,. Momasan, Gloria used to sleep on the pool table on the second deck. Ah,,,those were indeed,,,,the days!!!!!

The last time that I was in Subic City was 1988 when I was stationed at Subic Bay with A Company Marines. You only went to Subic City for one thing back then and wow, it sure does look different nowadays which is to be expected. As Marines, when we went to the field at Green or Red Beach, the girls from Subic City were brought over in boats for some nighttime bush bunny action.

Hi James oh yes we used to play Smiles at Marilyn's back in the day it was great because the AFP or Shore Patrol did not go there, those Marines did some crazy stuff but what happened in Subic City stayed in Subic City it's so different now not worth the trip there from Magsaysay Drive

Thanks! Lots of memories, and many lost. Eagles was my hangout in '85-'88, it used to be across the street from the place on the 2nd floor. I had my laundry done there during rainy season and they hung the clothes in that walkway to the bay and had a small fire going. My clothes smelled like a house fire haha.

Used to go out there in '75-'76. Muff Diver's Inn was owned by a one-legged American ex-pat (or was he one-armed?) Anyway, they had a pool table and the chili wasn't too bad. It was a lot quieter back then, probably less than a dozen bars and more laid back than Olongapo with great sunsets over the bay.

I was there in '72. Very dangerous place then. The criminals ran the place. They used every angle to get your money: drugs, prostitutes, and outright thievery. As soon as you left your ship, while still on the base, people would approach you with some sob story, taking advantage of the first time sailors, with the intention of separating you from your money. After awhile, you hated the place, or you just got so drunk you didn't care anymore. As much as being on the ship could be very depressing, you did it anyway rather than go into town. Besides all of that, racial tensions were making going into town even worse. A few times I had to be escorted by concerned business owners passed a group of blacks intent on violence. Nice to see that all of that is gone.
