I think the psychic type itself also allows for pretty strong stylization. There are lots of very "strange" psychic types as far as character design goes (as I can observe), so I think this works phenomenally.

I like how the redesigns aren’t that drastic because I loved the originals. These are probably better tho

the whole broken fortune telling cawmadame thing is really interesting to me. it could be used in the story of the game as well. like, a cawmadame with broken gems foretell that the villains of the game are going to do something big, and the characters just shrug it off. but then the prophecy comes true. i really like when they take abilities from pokedex entries that the pokemon has and puts it in the game somehow.

Someone in the last video suggested that Cromen’s pearl could come from Spoink, creating a Mazahian variant of Spoink snd Grumpig. I think that’s an awesome idea, and I hope the Subjectively crew hears it.

I’m still looking forward to adding the new regional fish types, there’s so little variety among the fish it’s be great to see what you bring to make them stand out, like a hammer head or swordfish.

Honestly some people may be annoyed by all the redesigns, but I like them! I enjoy seeing your design and art progress and watching them improve

I'd like to see the cawmadame idea of the broken gems to be used by the regions evil team where they capture all the cawmadame from an area and break their gems to predict the future. I think a team who use psychic pokemon would also be a nice change from the usual dark and poison

I really love the updated Lupacabra design. Originally I thought I just wasn't a fan, but you nailed the redesign! You didn't mention it in this video, but the updated art really gives the impression you have talked about in other videos of being a scary monster that could also be your best friend. Lupacabra kinda remind me of Sully from Monsters Inc.; it's big, bulky and scary but also cute, friendly and soft. Really great job!

I love the Crowmen line( it’s giving Witch of the waste from Howl’s moving castle) Loved the new redesign but a slight suggestion, maybe have the clawed tail be webbed like a duck for example( it just doesn’t really look like a water type)

Love the designs! Only thing bugging me out is that Zolupine's right front paw has the thumb on the wrong side....

Designing fakemon is a hobby of mine, and whenever I redesign a mon, I kinda feel frustrated that I didn't have the same "skills" then than I do now. So seeing a seasoned artist do the same (that is, learning new skills as time goes by) makes me feel better.

I've had this idea in my head for a while for some of the people characters in the region. I thought it would be a fun but of lore if the professor of the region and the evil team's second in command were siblings and when they were both kids they had both gotten their own Techuppi, but growing up, one of them became super successful in everything they did and got all the praise while one became more isolated and ignored and because of this, the one sibling grew to resent the other. When the more successful one's Techuppi evolved to become a Zolupine, while the more isolated one had a Lupacabra, their resent grew even more and he ran off and ended up becoming part of the evil team while their sibling became the new pokemon professor

I feel compelled to say something. While Lockemon is one of my favorite fan mons ever. Yours tops it as your designs are pretty, meaningful, and the way you draw them to fit pokemon. I never question your fakemon. They're amazing. Edit: Whoa! Lupacabra looks so much better now! I was disappointed with it at first because I adored the first stage and its concept, but I also thought it looked funny. This pose makes it feel waaay better!!

I’m sure many would agree with this, I think once all the Pokémon for the Mazah Region have been completed, you should make a long, Pokédex video, listing every Pokémon in the new format, in pokedex order

I love the new shinies of the Techuppi line, a great improvement over the originals(which imo, the original shiny colors did not contrast well together) and the new shiny colors look so stylish and contrasts well together fitting with their origins a lot better

Love the Cromen line! Tbh the Techuppi line hasn't been my favorite. Maybe because they seem so similar to the Rockruff line in that it is a split-evolution canine line. I like Techuppi's stance that reminds me of tough bulldogs like it's a little guy acting tough, but I don't like how it's eyes look so blank. I know its supposed to be like an alebrije statue, but having such a blank stare makes it a little more difficult to form a bond with. Also, Zolupine's front left leg looks very odd in the pose, especially with the left leg having a right paw; the way its drawn looks like Zolupine has a hand goatee.

Could you do something with gender dimorphism, along the lines of Unfezant or Meowstic, where the physical change really stands out without having to create two different evolution species? It might just be me, but I really like those kind of pokemon, just seems neat.

Amazing new bird line! I love corvids and psychic types, plus the colours are extremely pretty! The idea that Cawmadame can give "broken" doom prophecies is so cool to me. However, Zolupine left hand seems very awkward and has the thumb on the wrong side. And, probably just me, but Lubacabra just looks wrong without a fluffy tail. I've never been a fan of pokemon losing limbs upon evolution, and the balance and flow of the pokemon I feel would be better with a tail. Either way, amazing rendering and can't wait for more!

I am head over heels in LOVE with the techuppi line’s new shines! IMO, the green on techuppi and xolupine was just too warm/oversaturated in comparison to the other colors which made their color pallets seem unbalanced and honestly kind of unappealing. They also didnt make much sense for a dark type (bright olive green and white arent really colors you’d associate with “dark types”). Now the colors contrast each other perfectly without clashing and fit techuppi and its evos so much better!

It's been awesome watching how the Maza region has developed along with Jack :)

I really love the Lupacabra redesign! Adding that extra sense of weight to its pose helped make the personality you were trying to make for this Pokémon more clear (adding a bit more beefiness to it's body helped the design feel more wholesome as well). It looks wild, strong, and a little menacing, but it also looks like something I'd love to befriend. It might actually be my favorite Pokémon in the Mazdah region so far!

Maybe you could do Dinovember next year or something. By the way, love the new Lupacabra. To me it looks more intimidating and that’s awesome.

That's an absolutely fantastic job on Lupacabra! Such subtle changes but it makes a huge difference. I used to look at Lupacabra and Zolupine and think to myself, "why would anyone want Lupacabra?". Now it feels like they are different but equally desirable.

Please do a redesign for the Xolsmol line! You did a great job meshing the water-fire concept but it lacks the Pseudo-Legendary feel.

Your channel has inspired me to work on my own ideas for Pokemon. While I dont have the means to draw, I can still type out my thoughts. With that said and as morbid as the idea would be, I'd love to see you design an evolved form of a Male Salandit based on it being cast out from a Salazzle's harem and starving to the point of collapse.

Love the updates to Techuppi and its evolutions. They have a new shine to them like the little painted statue shown as a ref and that small detail really adds a little something to it for me

The new lupacabra design reminds me a bit of zoroark so it's cool to think that they could have shared an ancestor (even if one is a fox and the other a general big dog)

I just wanna say I love the changes to Lupacabra! I don't really know how to talk about them in any way other than saying I think they all had the effects that you intended them to have, and it made a world of difference. I like this design a lot more. Also I appreciate the removal of the head tuft (idk what it is about it but I just wasn't feeling it) and the move to less pointy shapes in the head and arms; it feels right for a bulky pokemon.

These videos and designs just keep getting better and better. Please keep doing the redesigns when you think it necessary. While the new mon are more exciting to see at first, I feel that there is much more to learn about character design from how you alter previous work. That and every redesign makes each mon design that much stronger! I love every single redesign that you have chosen to do.

You delivered with the cromen line. I like how they all look toylike and capture the abstract and surreal vibe that psychic types in my opinion should go for, especially with cromen's legs and cawmadame's head

i love every changes, they look great! the only thing is that to me Zolupine feels like a weaker design compared to Lupacabra. their silouette doesn’t show their tail to much, i suggest a thinner bodyshape (in contrast to Lupacabra’s bulk) and and arching tail that goes over their body, the last thing i would change is their hand-tail, giving them 3 fingers so it haves a more simmetrical look (and maybe they can wear this hand like a mask when they go underwater with their eyes peeping through the fingers!)

LOVE the new Lupacabra design, its even more my favorite now. Although i still maintain my stance that it should keep Hustle as its pokedex entry really implies that it does.

Random thought - you know how in Pokemon games when all your Pokemon faint you pass out and loose money 1) Perhaps there could actually be a Pokemon behind that phenomenon in Mazah 2) I can just imagine when you wake up a murder of Cromen pick pocketting you for shiny change then just skedaddling

Funny enough, I’m glad I waited to work on my fanart until this video. I was both struggling with the size of the techuppi line compared to the Trainer and worried there might be an update on the design that would make my art out of date. I fell in love with the line when I thought of my trainer’s story about coming from the Unova region with her starter Tepig and crossing paths with a pair of Techuppi brothers, which she adopts into her team. Naturally due to their personality, they both evolve differently and like brothers can get on each other’s nerves. You did an awesome job with the designs and the tweaks are minor enough, I don't feel exhausted or dread adjusting my original idea a bit. I'm glad you keep trying to improve the designs while in some cases trying to keep similarities. This isn't as easy as you make it sound, I bet.

The crows are some of my faves from you guys so far, extremely solid designs that i would totally put on my team in-game. your insight into creature design is truly enlightening as well, I'm taking notes

I thought of an idea for a Pokémon for your region: a regional variant of Phanpy and Don Phan (Or even a brand new evolution) based on a Manatee? (Since Manatees And elephants are often kinda related to each other’s...)

I noticed something: Cawmadame's silhouette almost looks like a genie's lamp. Just an observation that I enjoyed!

I really like slight tweaks of the pallet on the redesigns. Colors do not clash as much now, while retaining the idea behind coloration.

Well now we need a Flying type gym leader that uses Cawmadame and Honchkrow as their aces.

Cawmadame's unique attack Vision Trick - a special attack dealing physical damage with a high chance to confuse. Using its psychic powers it creates a strong and scary illusion making the opponent pokemon more likely to hurt themselves

Uuh the new Lupacabra design looks awesome. I liked the original but the redesign is on another level. Also watching these redesigning videos has a huge learning effect on me. I just have to be able to execute what I learned xD

Once again I suggest a ghost fighting type called Olkicks based off of the Olmec and eventually Mayan game that was effectively a mix of soccer and basketball and would be used to determine if some war prisoners deserved to be sacrificed

Oh Zolupine's hand comes from its tail. I would've changed the pose to make that clearer Also I don't think I fancy the direction of the pose. Usually Pokémon artworks are equivalent to sprites so they could ve used in a 2D game. I can't imagine that pose fitting on a front to back battle, looks more of a side-scroll fighter

Lupacabra looks nice. I like that the physique is a bit more beefy making them look a bit stronger but also a bit more huggable at the same time

I really want to see more about the region, gym leaders and the protagonist

I looove the updates! totally agree that lupacabra looked too floaty in the original design, and I like how you lessened zolupine's lankiness! He's got a firmer stance :) Goes to show how much work goes into pokemon designs!

The new pokemon are super cute, the concept for those early birds is really interesting. I will say that I prefere the old designs for the chihuahua pokemon but the intent you mention in the episode is absolutely accomplished. An idea for a new pokemon for that region could be something inspired in mexican flora like eryngium proteiflorum (I looked it up, there are lots of interesting plants there) or other that could work as a sentient plant pokemon, maybe adding maracas in the design (or taking them into consideration for another design!)

Cawmadame is a fantastic design. Honestly looks the most real of any fakemon so far in my opinion. I could definitely imagine it in a real game. It has clear themes, and is pretty clearly an animal but with quirks like the two tails and gemstones that enhance the themes in a way that I feel pokemon does a lot.

I only have one criticism of the crow line, and that is that the first has one blue orb, the second has three, and the third has two. I would have preferred it to be in order from 1-2-3, giving a visual sense of progression, and reinforcing the idea of "collecting" shiny objects. Other than that, amazing designs!

Gotta say, I love the tips on stylization a lot. Learning how to effectively design things in addition to watching the Fakemon creation is a great combo of take-aways. If I ever get around to designing my own Fakemon ideas, I'll be sure to keep the advice in mind! Side note: The fact that the Techuppi line is easily my favorite in the Mazah Dex only made this better. Love those ferocious li'l puppers :D

Aw, I thought for sure you'd give Lupocabra Hustle when you said in the dex entry about how it swings wildly in a frenzy in battles, sometimes never hitting. Maybe that'd be a cool second or hidden ability? :3c

I always liked lupacabra's design, but you've certainly improved upon it here! the new pose you gave it makes it way more menacing and full of personality.

I’ve had a ghost (poison maybe) since I was young. A three Pokémon evolution line (two maybe) that was kind of mummified. A floating circle as a body/torso and four tear drop-like shapes as a head, arms, and one collective floating leg thing. It would have mummy wraps on each of its four limbs and its torso, it’s visible skin would be purple. It would have a green aura like things that kept all 5 body parts together. Hopefully you can take this idea to make some kind of really cool Pokémon!

I really liked how u redrew lupacarbra, but i would definetly consider giving it hustle as an ability, just because it fits it's pokedex entry so well. Keep up the good work :)

Catching up on Mazha videos, and I’m enjoying the tips on stylisation. My starters have never sat right with me and have gone through so many redesigns. Hopefully the advice here will help me focus them properly.

i read a comment about the pearls alluding to a possible Spoink or Mazah Spoink line (which would be cool, perhaps a ghost or psychic/ghost as without it's pearl, Spoink die), but if the pearls are similar to the pearls which already exist in the game (perhaps as a method of evolution, hold one while you level up) then it could allude to certain shellfish getting Mazah forms, Clamperl and the Shellder line... ancient cultures used to harvest these pearls, a sacred event where rituals were performed to appease the shellfish's spirits, but if stolen (they would attack, perhaps with psychic energy focused through the pearls... water/psychic)

Lupacabra is 100% something that ash would use in the anime

It might be worth changing Zolupine’s pose, as at a first glance it’s not clear that the hand on its tail isn’t just the hand on its left arm. Maybe if you were to simply make the tail overlap in-front of the torso instead of going behind it, just a thought.

The redesign for Lupacabra is great! I wasn't into the first version, but the new version is stunning!

I do have a little criticism for Zolupine. The tail-hand position is a little unclear because it wraps around behind, I thought the hand was coming out of its back at first glance. maybe just adjust the tail so that’s more apparent. i love your designs they’re looking great!

One quick edit to your design of Zolupine. The fore paw behind the mon is backwards. The thumb digit is facing the wrong way.

Had some ideas for new eeveelutions for the mazah region, (the names are just placeholders for some) Champeon- fighting type eeveelution based on either luchadors or one of the Aztec / Mayan gods of war, Obsideon- rock or ground type eeveelution based on the obsidian blades used and Itztli, Medalleon- steel type eeveelution based on jewelry from Mayan and Aztec culture, A ghost type eevee based on day of the dead or any gods of death, A poison type eevee based on plagues or plague gods, A bug type eevee based on more edible bugs in Mexico

What I find interesting about Cawmadame's design is that, although a Psychic type, it's design is very reminiscent of the dark type Honchkrow. The wings and white collar are especially similar. Cawmadame looks like a mix between Honchkrow and Musharna, and I like it more for that (and not just because those are two of my favorite pokemon)

You are such a good help, i've been trying to desing pokemon and the hardest part for me isnt finding the idea or concept, its finding a way to execute it properly and stray away from this one idea you have in your head. Thank's alot your videos are very inspiring!

Just from the thumbnail, I couldn't understand what Corvoyant's theme was, I actually thought it might be some kind of worm-bird concept because of the neck. Because of this, it immediately struck me as having that characteristic fakemon feel from Deviantart when the concept is not fully fleshed-out so it looks like a generic animal with uninspired "random pokemon features" added on it like spikes and stripes. I believe I didn't realise the pearls were a key part of the design because the earlier generations of pokemon tended to use jewels as "random pokemon features" to fill in bland designs (Persian, Dratini, Mareep, Espeon, etc.). Now that I've seen the video and got the concept, I personally think the pearls need to be way more eye-catching and presented in a more original way if they're supposed to be the main theme of this design. I especially like how you did it with the first form, I'm a big fan of that one! Maybe it should keep a pearl in its beak at all stages?

Cawmadame definitely has fancy gatherings with Hunchkrow. They definitely have some close interactions between these two lines.

CORVOYANT’S LITTLE GLASSES ARE SO CUTE I CANT

Stylisation is so important. I love the adjustments you have made. Its subtle and makes it pop that little more. I recently got Nexomon Extinction which is a lot of fun. But there are a lot of 2 stages that have room for a third. But many 3 stages do not stand out from each other and dont have enough personality to each stage. A good early example is the alpha versions of natu mid stage and xatu. It just gets bigger. Yoy can see why they cut the middle stage and added more style to the other 2 stages

I really love the redesigns, i liked the original conepcts but they felt off and now they look oh so so great

Honestly b my favorite thing about Lupacabra's new design is the implication of how it is related to Zorua as the hair on it's back resembles Zorua's hair.
