Have you tried turning it off and on again

Backed in the day you could lose your cyclops to flooding (when you are unable to repair the breaches) now you could lose it permanently by an explosion I really liked the flooding feature because it gave me thought that if I abandoned the submarine when having a bull breach it would sink to the ocean floor and then someday I would come back to retrieve it

I completed the entire game without ever receiving so much as fire appearing in the cyclops, and I brought mine all the way down to the lava lakes multiple times. So thanks for showing me what it looks like.

My cyclops has never met this fate, creating it felt like such a Herculean task that I refused to place it in harm’s way. I kept it away from all the leviathans until the defenses were all set up.

He could have avoided this situation if only he had kept the Cyclops parked with the lights off. The Reapers leave you alone when you do that. All he had to do was wait a little bit, go outside with his repair tool, and fix the hull.

This is so good looking, I almost don’t feel bad about hours and hours of your life that Reaper just took

1:35 Cyclops: Explodes Sea Moth: *REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE*

This was the most unfair thing to ever happen to me in the game (attacked by 4 ghost leviathans simultaneously) but ultimately it delivered probably the greatest thrilling experience in my entire gaming life. It really helped that I'm playing on hardcore and try to Google as little as possible about the game. Basically everything the dev's planned actually worked out extremely cinematically and it was as picture-perfect as a cutscene. It had all the elements of a great movie scene: "Creature attack" warning (which scared the bajeezus out of me, I was thinking what kind of creature is brave enough to attack this humungous thing??), hearing "emergency power" when activating flank speed for the first time in my life, me trying and failing to save the ship and realizing with a ray of hope that the seamoth was now my escape route, hull critical warning, epic alarms, epic music, epic sound of the seamoth being released, the barely making it past 300m before releasing my seamoth which can only dive up to 300m, the barely making it out of the 5-second countdown explosion (which I had no idea was going to happen; it was a nice bonus to the thrill) and finally escaping those blue shitheads by the skin of my teeth. The best part being of course that it actually happened and wasn't a cutscene. I'm really glad I didn't look up videos of Cyclops crashes BEFORE experiencing it for myself with my actual in-game life on the line. Since then I became a pussy and backed up all my saves and tried to get my items back, dying many times to the ridiculous 4-ghosts simul attack. It made the game a bit less mysterious and awe-inspiring. Don't do it. The only right way to play this game is Hardcore and without Googling anything. What I should've done is continued hardcore and just left the wreck there, forever, treating the beacon as a grim warning to never go there again in my entire life. EDIT: It's actually horrible game design which caused this amazing experience. This can only happen if you go off the edge of the world, which will force the game to attack you with a bunch of ghost leviathans. The edge-of-the-world warning only occurs ONE TIME in the whole game (and the game does NOT tell you this fact); after that there's no clear indication you're going off the edge other than a rather captivating deep blue color which beckons you to go further. To make matters worse, once a ghost leviathan appears and the player has no idea WHY, thus stays completely still out of fear, the game still forces more and more to appear and eventually attack. Of course going off the edge is easily avoided if you google these things but I was trying to play completely in-universe.

I love how he gets back into his sea moth and then he checks the area and sees no reaper, gets out and searches his dead cyclops and all you hear is the reaper yell and the sea moth just explodes. It was at that moment you knew you were fucked XD

If you'd turned the engine off the reaper would have stopped attacking, which would have given you time to extinguish the fires (you could then sneak away with silent running)

You might have been able to save it by putting it on silent running and, after putting out the fires, getting outside to repair hull damage. Creatures don't seem to attack the Cyclops if you're not in it

I didn't really like how the cyclops was immortal because if you went to the lava zone it wouldn't be scary now that the cyclops explodes it is more scary

As soon as I got the cyclops I got the fire suppression and force field upgrades.

The "caution, mild dehydration detected" message was the cherry on the cake. And the last minute explosion from the seamoth was the mega cherry on the cake
