The turtle one you put into A tier was actually liked inspired by a real life mythical creature. A colossal turtle that supports an entire island on its back, complete with beaches, trees, and even mountains in sone depictions. It’s called a Zaratan if the creature is specifically a turtle. You said you like turtles, so I just thought you might be a bit interested in the likely inspiration for the leviathan.

Subnautica was the first video game i can describe as being a magical experience for me. it made me fall in love with gaming many years ago. i've made playing though the game a yearly ritual, reminding me of what made me fall in love with the hobby. finding the time capsule of a big time youtuber was just so awesome! so glad to see that the community is still going strong!

Nice tier list. I also only fear one thing in subnautica:Reapers, their appearance is so grotesque and realistic compared to other leviathans, so it's much easier for me to imagine running into one irl. Plus their roar is paralyzing. Love your content aci, one of my fav subnautica youtubers :)

I started a new Survival game the other day and was gathering Lithium in the Purple Vents. I didn't have the Seatruck yet, so I was just using the Seaglide. I was pretty close to the crevice that leads to the Deep Purple Vents when I decided to return to the pod, but then I decided to turn back for... some reason, and then I realized the Chelicerate patrolling it was like 30 - 40 meters away from me. I might add that I was playing without any sound, so this got me real good. I think my brain froze because instead of getting the hell out of there I just went up to the surface, just to see the creature's upper body turning around to come after me. I immediately turned around and starting Seagliding for my life towards the escape pod, and after about 70 - 100 meters I turned around to see if it was still there. I wasn't gonna turn on the volume in the middle of that situation, so that was my only way to check. at first I didn't think it was, but once the trail of the Seaglide cleared up I saw it rapidly charging towards me from the distance, agitating its beak like crazy. just as it was about to grab me, I managed to avoid it by swimming down (albeit still looking in the same direction). when I turned around, it started turning around as well, and that's when I made my run for it. it didn't come chasing me after that, thankfully. I don't think I've ever had such a terrifying encounter with any given Leviathan in both Below Zero and in the base game. this alone convinced me that the Chelicerate is the most terrifying Leviathan in Planet 4546B so far.

3:42 Maybe the “rock” serves as mimicking a large ore deposit and the creature is hidden in the ground and attacks if you mine the ore. If this was in the game, there would be a way of seeing if it is a normal large deposit or this creature. Maybe a colour difference or the creature being slightly visible on the bottom of the ore deposit.

Dope video, but Chelicerates were always my favorite Levithan because of their ai, which was ravenous towards me during my recent playthrough, and It's method of attack. Your game must've been bugged or outdated cause it never spun in circles. I see him as a better reaper. Vent garden ranking was based though +50 social credits.

The Ice Dragon had a pinnaped turtle variant that I love. I also imagine the first Leviathan and the Guardian Leviathan shared concepts...and maybe the "underground crawler" creature that was cut early in Subnautica.

I think that the shadow leviathan was not a threat because of the perimiter defence system that you get for free and the seatruck being so beefy. You first encounter reapers when you should have an unupgraded seamoth and they almost destroy it with one hug❤

The chelicerate definitely should have been higher. Im pretty sure your game is bugged because as opposed to aimlessly spinning the ones in my game kept jump scaring me on the way to the mercury. additionally it has one of the best kill animations and can be very terrifying when it chases you with its mandibles snapping

I had thought that what made something a leviathan (in the pda entries) was that it could kill a swimmer in 1 shot (eats the swimmer animation). So while I get that the squidshark doesn't feel like one, based on that criteria I don't think the entry is technically wrong. Am I being dumb about this? Help me out here if I'm going about this wrong. (I also realize that passive leviathans don't fit that criteria either, but I guess those are just based on size?)

I realy like the chelly and shadow leviathan But I think they would be better as leviathans that can spawn with more dangerous leviathans or have better behaviors

The second picture of the Sea Emperor is most likely there so you could also rank the early sea emperor, which was planned to be hostile.

W on the ghost leviathan, i think they look cool but are lacking in any gimmicks or features, they kinda just run into you

I like Ghost Leviathans the most. While they actually sound horrifying they're not all that bad. Sea Dragons are just effing noisy. I don't know why but I've never been afraid of them; they just sound pained. The only time I DID get scared was.... well I have this thing where I get impatient, dump my seamoth just below 900m and take the entrance nearest the bulb forest to get to the thermal facility. With a seaglide. Yeah once I was doing this happy as larry, ignoring the sea dragon bellowing at me. I kind of got jumpscared by the Ghost diving straight down into the pit at me. I then nearly shat myself when fireballs started whizzing past me. Yeah one of the dragons followed me all the way to the lost river and then started a fight. I just happened to get stuck in the middle of it.

I feel like the idea of the ice worm was good on paper, but the way it was implemented is such a dissapointment. you encounter the ice worm like a few times during your playthrough, and even when you do encounter them, they are so easy to avoid. I wish they made more stuff to do in the ice spires biome so you could encounter them more.

I like the Chelicerate more than the ice dragon. Fite me.

Something about the shadow leviathan scares me the most , just the vibe the area has and how it looks plus how aggressive they are and the attack animation. To me I find it the scariest, ghost leviathan is a close second for me

The Shadow Leviathan is the biggest bag fumble in all of creature design. It's a clear sign that Below Zero needed some more time in the oven. Imagine if it could turn on its side and spray the stomach acid like a Gasopod, or use its head to punt you away like the Sea Dragon slap.

When I heard you say the sea treader is the only one that walks I tried looking at all the other ones to see if they walk and I found one that also walks the frozen leviathan it can swim but as you see in the mod made by the developers of the gargantuan leviathan he can walk on the ground and the bottom of the ocean
