H.W.1: everything looks right just the number of network = 2^26 and number of host per network=2^6 (and for usable you gotta - 2) similar mistake for the rest ...

So basically it belongs to class A where 10 is already given, the remaining network part will be _.255.255._, which when converted to bits come out to be 8+8=16 and plus the bit which is in the 4th octect. So total is 17.

Only two networks (Subnets) are possible in this problem and the octet position is 2. Please correct.
@tesnimeboulfoul2273
@tesnimeboulfoul2273 Жыл бұрын
I think the octet position is still 4 because the first "1" you encounter going from right to left is in the 4th octet but I agree that only 2 subnets should be possible and we shouldn't change in the 3rd octet since the subnet mask is class C not B

4 subnets actually, since two 1s in 4th octet so 2 power 2 = 4

Homework Answers✔✔✔✔ Answer 1: Given IP Add is 201.1.1.0, class C IP Address and default subnet mask is 255.255.255.0. Given number of hosts=40 which has 6 bits. So, Subnet generator will be 64 and Octet 4. New subnet mask will be 255.255.255.192 or /26. Number of subnets will be 2^2=4 and usable hosts in each subnet will be (2^6) - 2. Answer 2: Given IP Add is 170.15.0.0, class B IP Address and default subnet mask is 255.255.0.0. Given number of hosts=1000 (binary 1111101000) which has 10 bits. So, Subnet generator will be 4 and Octet 3. New subnet mask will be 255.255.252.0 or /22. Number of subnets will be 2^6=64 and usable hosts in each subnet will be (2^10) - 2. Answer 3: Given IP Add is 15.0.0.0, class A IP Address and default subnet mask is 255.0.0.0. Given number of hosts=100(binary 1100100) which has 7 bits. So, Subnet generator will be 128 and Octet 4. New subnet mask will be 255.255.255.128 or /25. Number of subnets will be 2^17 and usable hosts in each subnet will be (2^7) - 2.

Can you please write addresses for answer1, 201.1.1.0 201.1.1.64 201.1.1.128 201.1.1.192 201.1.1.255 here now we can't write 201.1.2.0 as it is class C and only last octet can change? right?

we do not count the 1's in first octet because the 1's in first octet are already present in class B's default subnet mask, counting only the 1's that are newly added to the new subnet mask

can anyone tell how to solve these type of questions What is the maximum number of subnets and hosts per subnet for the 192.168.50.247 255.255.255.224 network?
@blackburn3r
@blackburn3r 6 ай бұрын
Well we know that its a class C IP address. and so the first 3 octets of the subnet mask will be filled with ones. hence only the last octet in this case allows us some flexibility. So if you convert 224 to binary youll see 11100000. the number of hosts are dictated by the number of zeros in this octet. So 2^5 - 2 hosts are possible per subnet. The number of subnets are given by the number of ones, that is 2^3 or 8 subnets.for the number of subnets you can think of it as. Each subnet will have 32 ip addresses available. You can only play with 8 bits here. so the total number of subnets is 2^8 / 2^5 that is 2^3 or 8. if it were class B and each subnet has 32 ip addresses. You have 16 bits that are not fixed by the class itself. so the total number of subnets will be 2^16/2^5.

Why would you define the new subnet mask as 255.255.255.128 (correct) but still modify the third octect? Yes initially the IP is Class A but once you limit to 100 hosts (as the question says) you're LOOKING for the subnet masks that adecuates, is not like you adecuate the subnest mask you found to the initial classification of the IP adress, like you are doing in the video. Am I missing something?
@johnmusk7357
@johnmusk7357 5 ай бұрын
Well it turns out that I'm wrong. You in fact have to count the network bits you borrow *starting* from the default subnet mask, given by the IP Adress Class. And all those borrowed bits represents the number of networks that are created from this new subnet mask. This another video covers that perspective kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rL9kls141bjNeac.htmlsi=XAQmkY-kBM62MUDU

if the subnet mask is 255.255.255.128 then how can you have a value greater than 128 in the last octet? I am really confused about this
@RizuClearThinking.
@RizuClearThinking. Жыл бұрын
Dear Jai..Plz don't mix subnet bits with host bits..frist of all...128 means.10000000..left most bit is one...for example the last qustion asked in this video.. 7 bits reserved for hosts and the last eightth bit become SG which we say is 128... so our first subnet range would become... 15.0.0.0 -> 15.0.0.127 15.0.0.128-->15.0.0.255 Now third & so on subnets will answer your question " how can you have a value greater than 128 " 15.0.1.0 --> 15.0.1.127 15.0.1.127 -->15.0.1.255 ... .. H.W.3 : Class A, 255.0.0.0, 100 Hosts Given so 1100100 = 7 bits reserved from right to left, Subnet Generator = 128, Octet Position = 4, New Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.128 or /25, Number of Networks / Subnets = 2^17 and Usable Host IP Addresses = 2^7-2
