Eddie Hearn states that Matias needs to be known more. Haney selling 50,000 PPVs in his fight with Prograis indicates that being known alone doesn't sell fights. Bottom line, it's about entertainment. Fight fans want excitement. That's the quality that Matias brings to the table. Promoting a Matias championship fight at MSG in my opinion would be a sellout and PPV buys would without a doubt, top the poultry 50,000 buys generated by the Haney vs Prograis fight. Matias has the following not only of boxing aficionados and the PR fans, but also Mexican fight fans. He trains in Mexico, fights in the Mexican style, and his trainer, Panda, is Mexican. Promoters putting on fights that don't generate fight fan excitement is what's killing the sport. Fight fans want to watch real fights not snooze fests!

It’s so many variables that goes into selling ppv so it was a race weekend for starters Progris isn’t a big attraction either plus I heard 50 isn’t the correct number but it must be low but look at these so called big names like tank and look at his numbers before the Ryan fight. Him and Pitbull was tanks 3rd ppv they did around the same thing 50k his other fights range from 100k-200k buys 🤷🏿♂️

This is good. If he doesn't do this, they'll keep ducking him. He's been calling out the champs for years. Instead, he was forced to fight four undefeated top-5 contenders. The same thing is happening to Barbosa, who has been forced to waste 2 or 3 of his best years waiting. It's because the organizations and promoters only want paydays, everyone waiting for Ryan or Davis. Look at how Porter and Teo were laughing when Matias was mentioned, with such arrogance and disrespect. Well, if they're so confident that they'll beat him then proceed to make the fight. It'll be good for the legacy of whichever one defeats him. Go ahead, give it a crack. Now is the time to unify all the belts, and hopefully it'll happen. This man's attitude is exactly what is needed by ALL title holders in boxing. Haney and Lopez need to fight him or each other, if they each believe they're the best. His style is so unorthodox and not easily read, and he's so tough and relentless. Imo he's beating up Teofimo and I'd love to see if Haney could box slickly and avoid the pressure and awkwardness for 12 rounds, or if his fight plan would go out the window and he'd end up unable to hit and move and get repeatedly backed onto the ropes eating leather. I hope these fights can get made in 2024 and undisputed in 2025👍🏾

Did you also know that he had severe pneumonia when he fought Kamboso that he was admitted in ICU and he could’ve died. Matias is like Pitbull no one wants to give them a fight.. But Matias should have taken that fight with Teofimo short notice or not.. That was his way in but turned it down.. Just like pitbull took that short notice with Tank.. He lost but gained more views and fans..

I like this kid and he would get opportunity's at Matchroom as well as promoted well, but I don't think he is ready to go straight in with the champions, Lopez and Haney have both beaten former champions and higher level opponents than Matias as beat so far and it's one thing looking good against c and b level boxers but it's a whole different level when fighting the elites. I would give him a couple of top 5/10 fights to get him ready and build him up a bit.
