I’ve noticed that fairy in the back is good in the current meta (at least from what I’m seeing) as it seems every team has Ape and/or dragons.

Hey Dan, you’ve mentioned a few times that a “double resistance” nets out by a weakness (lick on a Girafarig)- but the damage is actually still a double resistance. In the main series, ghost does ZERO damage to normal (same for psychic on dark, or poison on steel). So a lick would do nothing to the giraf. In PVP, instead of doing ZERO damage, they honor this principle by making it where the double resistance takes precedence over the other (there’s no ‘net’ effect).

Pokemon go doesn’t factor in immunities like that. They ignore what would normally happen in the main series games and just take the multiplier from both types. You can check in pvpoke by seeing how much damage a ground type move does to a Thunderus and a Tornadus. Both have identical stats and are fliers but the added electric type makes Thunderus take more damage.

I believe you are incorrect. It becomes single resisted in this case. It only takes so little damage from lick because its a one turn move so double or single resisted it likely does the same damage

These have been really helpful and I'm in this weird position where I'm not winning anywhere near as much as I'd like but I CAN tell that I'm internalizing some things. I'm managing energy more effectively I'm more confident I know at least a few counts and when I lose I'm no longer particularly confused as to how it happened. I feel like I can pinpoint the swing moments now at least. It's just I'm still struggling to execute.

Just tried Charj on the front with S Feraligator and S gligar in back. First match was a basti lead which I haven’t seen all season and it had a double charm in the back with S nine and wiggly

Do the IVS not matter in pvp? It seems like in a lot of the teams there is always at least 1 of the stats super low. I don’t play pvp but I want to start but I’m not sure how to go about building a team 🤣

Does it matter? Yes. Is it important? No. Dont think to much over it. The right IV can win you very corner cases. Like out of 1000 wins you will then win 1002 with good IV. If you start? Try pvpoke. It helps quite much First rule. Learn the dmg tpye chart. Grass beats water. Water beats fire. Fire beats Grass. Then if you find a team you like? Don't switch it out if you loose some rounds. Learn it and become better with it. You can copy paste teams from pvpoke. As a starter teams with heavy fast attack dmg are the best. Also important! Watch out for using the right move! Check pvpoke

Typically you want low attack and high defense and stamina. Dan has videos on his page about it. I suggest watching those if you're interested
