Looking forward to the glorious day that Adobe launches ACES/OCIO compatible PHOTOSHOP, as it has done in After Effects and Substance Painter. In the meantime, the movie and VFX industry is adapting itself to use programs like Affinity (with all its limitations), that can handle 32 bit linear files, such as EXRs. I do hope to see that step forward in my lifetime.

In other to help if you don't mind, tone mapping should be applied automatically, because that is one of the main benefits about ACES and we still are getting blown out materials. Second, doesn't make sense to have the Activate Color Profile available in the Display Settings. Hell of a mess IMO.

Hey thank you for an explanation. I have an question. Is possible to export from Painter textures in ACEScg? For example BaseColor in ACEScg? BEcause I see that I can change color space direct in Properties of my layer - under specific channel (for example basecolor)....but in project config I see Export color spaces are set to Utility - sRGB - Texture. Only floating point images have ACES- ACEScg. Are floating point images 32bit? Are they for example .exr? And....is reasonable to set 8 bit image to ACES - ACEScg for export?

I still cannot get Substance Painter to look like Unreal 5 and vice versa. Even with the same HDRI. Can you do a video on how to get the same 1 to 1 look?

Hey! great tutorial, but for some reason since i'm using aces as my environment variable in windows, my SP doesn't let me change the settings for exporting and because of that, my roughness is looking different than the subtsance i have, how can i fix this?

Hi. A great set of Vids!. A quick question for you/ others. All other DCC's are on ACES 1.3 OCIO 2.1. It seems Substance cannot understand the newer versions of the formats. What does everyone lese do. Down grade everything else back to ACES 1.2?. Best. Mark

Again you use the notion of color space interchangeably with the notion of gamma curve. REC709 is the exact same color space as SRGB, only the gamma curve changes.
