*India had verna system and had jaati. Caste is dutch word. When English wanted to cesus they kept asking which caste you belong n people got cofused since they knew thier jaati but not caste. So English segregated hindus into 4 parts and created this monstrous structure* Brahmins were knowledge seekers and keepers they weren't allowed to hoard anything materialistic, they mostly lived by the mercy of parents of students they taught. They lived povery filled life. Vaisyas actually were money seekers n rich since they did business both inside n outside, they contributed economical growth. They were goods industry. shudras were the service industry without them nothing works because they keep everything going on. and kshatriya were guards, soldier, police, kings who took responsibilities of protection. Everything was going like that. Keep this in mind, no matter who you are both good and bad exists. Since brahmins were the teachers they were also guides to rulers n keepers of temple. Kings lived in forts not mansions n wore normal dresses on daily basis, only from crown one could distinguish between common man n king. Marco polo who visited India writes this very clearly. Those mansion n luxurious lifestyle of kings were western thing n later influenced indian kings in last 5-6 century. What we see is caused by 1. 700 years of results of turkish Muslim invitation. Sati started because of that. Almost 200,000 women were taken as sex slaves by them. Hindus could not fathom that because that virtue was everything for a women of that time. Sati never happened in south india, why? No muslims were abled to invade that part thats why. 2. 200-250 years of dutch, English invasions. Theyre like weed, more problematic than crops(locals) 😅. I am old. I have seen cast discrimination on other people. But frankly among all the people I know (friends, neighbors, colleagues) - I don't know their caste. Never asked, never paid attention to it. Even if somebody told me, I don't remember it because it was never important. We give special importance to some muslim friends because of Halal food requirements and some step out 5 times a day for namaz. But within others, none, nobody cares. May be I am from a privileged place? Indian food is so varied. This is sad that folks only know "Curry". Korean food can be summarized in an A4 page. Indian food would be a novel. Just the sweets from Gujarat would a big chapter. The reason is not because we invented all of it - we did invent a lot, we also inherited a lot from invaders (Samosa, rajma, tandoor, biryani, vindaloo, chai) and modified it to make it ours. Or atleast NRIs should demand in the respective countries to change syllabus about India. hyierachy systems exist in all countries but no other country is dehumanised. I know our education system is little bit weird but not low and uneducated...

I don't want to defame anyone or anything, but before you comment on the casting system, you should do your research about the ground realities. There are many parts of India where people practise the caste system very intensely. And I am not talking about rural India. The casting system is still there, but the good news is that the number of practitioners is decreasing, and I hope it will eventually disappear.

Instead you should have mentioned the below. India is a country of around 1.5 billion people. Of these the number of rich people in India is around 60 million, which is more than the population of South Korea, around 400 million people are middle class and remaining around 900 million people are poor of which around 350 million are below the poverty line. If India grows rapidly, as now, more people will come out of poverty.
