Which Cash Flow Quadrant Are You In?

This is the cash flow quadrant made popular by Robert Kiyosaki. E stands for Employee, S for Self-Employed, B for Business Owner, and I for Investor. Employees trade time for money. Self employed do the same. However, business owners leverage employees to make money and investor leverage their money to make money.
The left side quadrants value security, while the right side quadrants value freedom. One side is generally poorer, while the other side is generally richer.
If you’re looking to build wealth, and more importantly, achieve financial freedom, you need to stop trading hours for dollars. Build businesses, acquire real estate, and invest in assets. It’s the only way to quit the rat race.

It is not at all uncommon for one person to fall into several (if not all) of these quadrants at the same time. The main point is that the goal should generally be to move from the quadrants on the left to the quadrants on the right as much as possible!

I just saw a short the other day where Robert said the S stands for Specialist, like doctors and lawyers

It’s actually self employed and/or specialist. The main point Robert is making is that it’s someone who makes decent money but whose cash flow is entirely dependent on his or her own continuing efforts. As soon as the lawyer, doctors, independent contractor, etc. stop working, they stop making money.

Hey Devashish. People move from one quadrant to another regularly. I think the real question is not which quadrant you should be in, but rather which income producing activity makes the most sense to your particular situation and which you are most likely to be successful with.
