Hey 👋 Skip & Sue! This video automatically started playing on my device. I thought it was current, then saw it’s 3 years old. The part at about 16:00 where you take about people moving on… As you know, about 2 years ago we moved to The Lofts of Brownwood. We saw people come, and saw people go, so to speak. Most renters seemed 15 to 20 years old than us. We were the youngsters at 60-65yrs old, and many said “you’re too young to be here.” Emergency services entering The Lofts gates was a daily occurrence. We know of 4 who died. One by suicide. It became apparent The Lofts were a last stop for Villagers who sold their property, or spouses died, and need a place void of homeownership. It was an interesting year that we leased. Now it’s July 2022, we moved to Lewes, Delaware. We bought a house full of problems, and now have some regrets leaving The Villages. Hey, at 27:40 you mention “hotdog and beer.” It’s almost 11am. Time for a Senior Lunch! 🌭 🍺 After 3 years, Meadow37 and I think your channel is the best. Listening to you is like hanging out with friends and family. Okay, enough blabbing from me. Take care, see you on the other side if we ever make it back.

Thank you so much, Skip and Sue. Great job offering important information to prospective homebuyers. I listen to Skip every night. Love his commentaries and tours. We’re planning a move from Orlando in a year or two. Our greatest concern - health insurance for those of us not eligible for Medicare (yet). But we’ll work that out! Thanks again for what you do!

Great video Skip and Sue. Agree about self checkout. Both wife and I always try to use real people. Too many jobs being lost to too much automation. Sue and Skip, you rock! Watched this video sitting on the lanai in the rental house located just south of 466. 😊 Love the information. And Skip I am with you about self checkouts and bagging my own groceries unless it is just a couple of items. After I have put in a 40 hour+ workweek I will be damned If I have to scan and bag 40 or more items just to save $2. Just my 2 cents.

The Villages has built a floorplan, The Bridgeport, for a while now that comes standard with 2.5 baths. There are also several newer floorplans, Mossy Oak, Indigo, Bayberry, that come standard with 3 full bathrooms. Also, if you custom build a home, you do have the option to add a half or full bath on many floorplans as long as the lot you choose has the space for the home expansions to fit.
@someguy95376
@someguy95376 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info, the 1/2 bath is pretty standard up in our area of suburban philly and its nice to have when you have overnight guests using the guest full bath but then have people over for social functions. Seems like some of the newer models are also offering a smaller den / 3rd bedroom which is a nice option for an office / TV room. One of the reasons i asked Skip about the 1/2 bath was from looking at house designs in other areas in FLA , where they have really nice designs for similar prices as the Villages.
@1RealHeel
@1RealHeel 6 жыл бұрын
We opted for a 3 bath plan with guests in mind and were considering the 2.5 bath plan back before the 3 bath plans were common. You will find similar or even possibly slightly nicer homes elsewhere for the same money. The homes here are competitively priced but the home costs are not the major appeal of The Villages. There are many, many other things that draw people to this place that none of those other places can offer. That said - like Skip says all the time - "The Villages is not for everyone". Some "base model" plans do have a den instead of a third bedroom. However, most of those plans can also be easily found with a closet added to make it a third bedroom. I have also seen pre-owned 3/2 plan homes that were custom built, originally, and half or full baths were added. With most of the floorplans, it is not as simple as "you get what's on the blueprint". If you custom build a home, and the lot you choose will accommodate, you can stretch/expand the plan. And, in the newer areas, it is common to find spec homes that are already stretched to maximize use of the lot it sits on. My home was a spec home but the garage is stretched forward 4 feet and the lanai is stretched back 4 feet.
@suesmith5594
@suesmith5594 6 жыл бұрын
for a long time you were not allowed to make changes all homes were spec homes glad rules have changed so you can add baths or rooms.
@1RealHeel
@1RealHeel 6 жыл бұрын
You still can't make any changes to spec homes, even if you happen to spot one you like while it is still in the process of being built. You can only make design choices of any kind when you purchase a lot and have them custom build one of the available floor plans. Since Villas and Garden Verandas are always spec built, you would never be able to make design choices on those up front. However, many of those are being constructed these days with stretches and upgrades well beyond the basic amenities.
@someguy95376
@someguy95376 6 жыл бұрын
thanks for these updates, it seems like a good idea for the Villages developers to do the stretches when possible, as the extra cost of 4 more feet for a garage or lanai is not a huge number $$ wise, but that extra 4 feet on a garage or lanai really makes big difference in usable space, esp in the lanai's..

Hi. We live in PA. We pay school tax in addition to real estate taxes. Do you pay school tax and if so, how much is it? How can we get a map of the villages that shows the streets and location of each section? We ordered the packet but it does not have a map. We’re coming for a lifestyle visit in July and wanted to study where everything is as we look at homes on the Villages app. Thank you.

A tax agent is a person that helps people work out their tax submission. Okay, you mentioned the "Tax Guy" on this video. He is who we call a tax agent. Our tax agent even does home visits. As far as I know, we can pay our tax as soon as it is due, but there is no savings here as per when it is done. Our tax is due to submit details from June 30 each year and all must be submitted by October 31. After that, a fine may be included for a late tax submission.

Patty S., I have rented in The Viilages several times, in fact I'm renting now. The first 2 times I rented I was under age 55. Be upfront with the owner about your age. All of the landlords ask for a security deposit. I have always been really careful when renting about taking very good care of the house, so I have always gotten the full security deposit back. Hope in a few years to call The Viilages my home!
