Brett, if you're checking in.. this is a fantastic album, don't be ashamed of it. I've been a fan since day one so I go way back. Who cares if "Suede fans" don't accept the "positivity"? Lots of gorgeous tunes here. Just saw you in Los Angeles. Top 5 shows of my life and I saw you in 93! You're one a handful of bands that consistently can sound relative and your energy was on fire at the show. God Bless!

I love this album, I don’t know why people (and even Brett himself) don’t like it.

I'm so glad he changed his tune again and said he disowns it in the 2018 documentary. I've never been so disappointed by a record in my life. I tried for so long, but I couldn't like it.

Richard's got a really good memory. Remembers exactly what was done when.

Guess, that's how he learned all the Suedes tunes by heart at the age 17 :D

Hello, yes agree would love to hear the Head Music interview. I know Brett has said in the past that he thought the single "Electricity" was a late edition throw away track but I loved it from the first listen. Absolutely great Suede pop, that cold sound, amazing. And the video was one of the last great music videos in my opinion.

"Electricity" really stood out on MTV which had become, IMO, really crap around that time, 1998-99, except for Alternative Nation. Loved the song and video too. As for "A New Morning", it's a much better album than they give it credit for. There's no a single bad Suede album.

I thought "Electricity" was fantastic. Still one of my favorite Suede singles, definitely my favorite track on Head Music, still sounds great today. When they started recording Head Music Brett said he wanted that cold sound especially the guitars and Richard nailed it. Sometimes it turns out to be better when a track is put together quickly IMO and this is one of those with out a doubt. And the video was equally great, love that one.

Although he wasn't at his aesthetic nadir here, Oakes was a man in desperate need of a beard.

Lost In TV is lovely, but the album just doesn’t feel like Suede, sadly

Interesting. ANM fell way short of suede's best. Shame.

That guitar with the weird curved headstock steals the show!

First thing I noticed as well haha. It's a Fernandes Nomad if I'm not mistaken. It also has a built in amplifier and speaker in the body. Not an expensive guitar at all, around $400 - $800.

I like Astrogirl better than anything since, don’t know why they slag off the album.

I think they struggled a bit after Bernard left. Richard is a great guitar player but I don't think he quite has the writing chops that Bernard had. A lot of my favourite post Bernard Suede songs are ones credited just to Brett but only knowing basic piano and guitar I don't think he quite had the musical vocabulary to write an album's worth of songs on his own and keep it interesting.

I don't really know what to say about New Morning. I tried to like it, but it just wasn't there. I get that Brett had gotten clear of his drug thing and was taking long walks in the country and whatnot. I get that maybe he was really feeling positive about life at that point and good for him if he was. It just didn't translate to Suede as a band for me. Maybe this was the point he should have started his solo journey instead of going back to Suede.

Suede were / are a great band and I don't think you would walk away from that before you'd made a bad record with them.
