New York death metal pioneers SUFFOCATION released their new album ...Of The Dark Light on June 9, 2017 via Nuclear Blast Records.
...Of The Dark Light was produced by SUFFOCATION and tracked at Full Force Studios with longtime engineer Joe Cincotta (OBITUARY). Mixing and mastering was handled by world renowned producer/engineer Zeuss (HATEBREED, ARSIS, SUICIDE SILENCE). Cover artwork was created by Colin Marks (ORIGIN, FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, KATAKLYSM).
Comments founding guitarist Terrance Hobbs:
"The moment we have been waiting for is here, our new album ...Of The Dark Light will finally be released through Nuclear Blast on June 9, 2017! Over the last 4 year period SUFFOCATION has taken its time to write this record and we couldn't be prouder. It is our most brutal record yet!
"SUFFOCATION worked through the end of 2016 to hash out and lay down the tracks at Full Force Studios with Joe Cincotta and once again enlisted Zeuss to bring this creation to life! Myself, Frank Mullen, Charles Errigo, Eric Morotti and Derek Boyer have all pushed the limit of what SUFFOCATION is and we hope you enjoy it!
"We also had the honor of having Colin Marks handling our artwork which is a new frontier for us and a different avenue and style to the traditional SUFFOCATION records. We also included some backup vocals from Kevin Muller (THE MERCILESS CONCEPT) which for us makes this album very unique! you seem to forget Doug Cerrito who knew how to create the cult identity of Suffocation !!! since his departure, the group has lost all its originality! now that Franck Mullen is gone, this group is drowned among all and too many groups all doing the same thing! for me, Suffocation will remain all the same and this for eternity, the group that actually created the brutal death. irreproachable from the first demo to despise the sun !!!

@@fredchet2523 Cerrito had a very particular style and you recognised his riffs immediately for example on the first Hate Eternal album. I was a die hard fan since '92. You can't blame the band for the line up changes, inevitable if you play that long. Of course we prefer the old stuff, that's what we grew up with. Still a good band, just not the same which is ok. Also Richards was amazing on the first albums, he played some amazing lines.

Last year I got to spend a month on the road with these guys, touring the US & partying in every place we played! Some of the coolest, most down to earth people I've ever known. It was seriously one of the best experiences I've ever had. Suffocation are pretty much the best there is at 2 things.... 1. Stepping on stage and melting every face in the room, every time! And 2. Having fun in the process!! The booze, weed & other assorted tools of intoxication were epic! While on tour I got to hear some early demo recordings of the material for this new album & it really blew me away!! Some of the heaviest Suffocation ever IMO. I can't wait for this record to come out!.

Recorded in a month.. That's pretty fuckin hardcore. Imagine if they had a year+ to record (like those mainstream pretty boys). Suffo would crush the Earth..

I love Suffo Forever but The recordings these days sound way differant i prefer the Liege of the invercity pierced from within and despise the sun kind of Distortion it is the best to me. The classics are the best.

The older stuff has a lot more personality. This just sounds phoned in. Nice guys and their (the actual original members) legacy is in stone, but the fire's long gone out.
