This is a transfer of a 16mm film I own. It features Sugar Ray Robinson leading up to the September 23, 1957 boxing match with Carmen Basilio at Yankee Stadium. You get to see Robinson in training and sparring with Tommy Taylor. There is some brief glimpses of his manager George Gainsford. Then there follows a great candid interview with Robinson by sportscaster Chris Schenkel.
Thank you all for your support, the ad revenue from KZfaq helps me to purchase new films and continue with the transfers and uploads. Please continue to support the ads and DVD's

Just look at the difference between the attitude of SRR here and then compare that to most modern day boxers? You DONT hear SRR coming out with vile, disgusting language as you do today. You DONT see SRR totally dis-respecting his opponents either prior or after the fight, in the manner we see Broner,Mayweather,Tyson, and the list goes on. Humility seems to be something that modern day boxers do NOT have in their make-up. That is, apart from the awesome, the truly great, SRL.

these were different times people were much more properly dressed and fluently well spoken not like 1970s-present day where society is now a bunch of sloppy dressed inarticulated people who lack sense of well-being

Shawn Porter was full of what you seem to think is completely gone. Disrespecting opponents is not new to modern fighters. It wasn’t as common for black fighters in the 50s to be disrespectful, because they weren’t allowed to after the way Jack Johnson angered so many white people in the 1910s.

@@stevencoates3382 Floyd is better. That's what he's talking about. Ray was getting ready to fight someone that Floyd would've beaten as well (p4p wise because this is a middleweight fight). Floyd made less mistakes, got knocked down less, got knocked out less, LOSS less fights than Ray, got hit less than Ray, *beat a string of elite competition back to back to back to back* and so on which is something Ray never did. Ray took tune up fights in between hard fights. MOSTLY every fighter did. Except Floyd, who didn't take tune ups. Floyd's tune up fights are literally HALL OF FAME opponents- that Floyd embarrassed and made look like amateurs. SRR is definitely deserving of being in that conversation. No doubt. So is Floyd. They are the top 2. Add Joe Louis you get top 3. Difference is Floyd's done what SRR has done AND THEN SOME- all of the strengths with none of the weaknesses. Again, and I want you to go Google search because I know you will have to, tell me a time Ray made another HoF fighter look like an amateur. There isn't. That's only something Floyd was able to do- literally. Ray was 37 in this clip and fighting

@@elloboblanco9111 Except they aren't similar in stature. Ray was bigger than Floyd. Now if you meant stature as in being a huge draw for audiences, Floyd is humble as it gets. Just say you dislike Floyd for being Black, and proudly outspoken when he felt like it. Classic case of "I like this negro more because the behave the way I want my negroes to behave." Floyd is humble after every fight. He's humble at most press conferences. He was humble in most 24/7 & All Access.

1. Joe Louis and Ali made those statements way before Floyd existed. 2. Ray Leonard (ON CAMERA) has already said that Floyd definitely belongs in that conversation. 3. Floyd isn't wrong. Would Tom Brady get this much backlash if he said he was the greatest QB? NO. Because he's white. The fact y'all have to go back so far in time to grab somebody is testimony to the greatness of Floyd Mayweather.
