I understand your comment, but keep in mind this was relative to my experience coming from a less sporty vehicle. Once I put a solid set of grippy summer tires on and balanced the tire pressures, the car was much more grounded and much less understeer. Nonetheless, the car has a very eager personality and does love it.

It's not a highly trafficked road, those who do drive hard tend to be more experienced, and there is no traffic (statistically, the vast majority of fatal collisions involve multiple vehicles). So my guess is that number is low relative to other roads in the area. One website (without citation) says: "There has been an average of one person killed on this 5 mile stretch of road every year since 2013."

@@ridernotrunner it was kinda scary when I saw a person walking on the edge of the road. With all the curves, I'd hate to see someone get hit. Personally I don't think anyone should be allowed to walk/run or bike on that road, it's much too dangerous. Its dangerous for cars too unless you drive slow and pay close attention. You certainly seem experienced though and drove it well but even then accidents can still happen. Just please be careful, I wouldn't want you or anyone else to get hurt on that road or any other road for that matter.

@@septembersapphire347 absolutely fair, and I appreciate your concern and thoughts. I believe in being safe, even in the sense of "if you're going to do stupid things, at least be smart about it." Yes, we always slow for traffic and pedestrians. Also, those longboarders are familiar with people's driving habits on that road and can hear us coming, so they were prepared (I slowed anyway as soon as I saw them). These days, most speed/grip runs are done at night in remote areas when there is minimal traffic. Too many people have died or been injured from not respecting the road and others on it.

I wonder about that also, if a runner or biker were around a blind curve and got hit.

Please be very careful and do not push your limits. Learn and respect the road. Do scouting runs or slow passes to check the conditions. This is Tuna Canyon Rd, look for the one-way downhill that goes to the PCH.

To be fair, the video always looks slower than being at the wheel. It's an ongoing struggle with this. Next time I run it, I'll have a wide angle cam and maybe that will help I'm also putting a high performance brake set on so I don't have to slow down as much on the bottom half next time. You can see I coasted a lot more near the end. This was my first time running this twisty in this car btw. Didn't wanna be too edgy

@@ridernotrunner ran this at night too. Was a bit overconfident from the Angeles roads and first time tackling these extra curvy roads. Honestly speaking, these aren't racing roads because going fast is almost non-existent. Unless you have high performance brakes, you'd be asking for all types of under steer and over steer of you're going more than 45mph

@@Jake-dh9qk you got it. I'm heading back down there soon, having just put on my high performance brake set. It will be much faster with those brakes on. Also the question of understeer and oversteer at speed on these roads is about handling too.

@@ridernotrunner yea I need some performance brakes. Ever since I got new performance tires, I'm not getting the slight oversteer like I used to have and instead is getting more understeer. I'm just looking for a big open lot for me to test out my cars limits before I move too fast on tight corners. Understeer is the scariest thing to feel.

@@Jake-dh9qk understeer is definitely scary when you're running canyons. I crashed once due to that and failing to correct it. There are some things you can do to correct balance and grip to reduce understeer though! Make sure your tires are pumped correctly and try increasing your front tire pressures incrementally until you find the right balance.

Luckily there are rarely cyclists on that one-way in comparison to Stunt or Piuma. Tuna does often have skateboarders, but they hear me coming and step to the side hahw. I will admit I have had close calls before on other blind corners in the area.
