Its called 'Show Business' for a reason. You're on stage because you are different to the punters and in the emotion of the performance. If someone asks you what you do, do you answer solidly 'musician' or feably 'I.T. Support but I play a bit of guitar'. Its an iportant point and if you want to get on in the industry you have to completely absorb that you are a performer and your persona is whats onstage. If you're lucky then thats the real you - these people are rare! :o)

@@elitetrader5468 My response to your wise ass and rather cynical jibe is that by saying "under rated" we are not necessarily implying that there's a competition where participants are assessed and graded with numbers. It means that we don't acknowledge a Guitar players attributes often enough and give him due credit. This is barebone common sense and that's why 'under rated' is used in many disciplines. My girlfriend is a professional musician. She tunes instruments by ear without the need of any keynote. Right after restringing. You can whistle a tone and she'll tell you the right pitch. I can tune my guitar by ear, or my bass, when I get a note to know where to start. Pretty easy. Even for a kid as long as it's not totally tone-deaf.

+Jack Stryder Jesus I would of quit playing the solo, and slapped Ozzy for that insane hair pull. WTF was OZZY thinking. I bet Jake told him after the show. Dude don't ever fucking pull my hair like that again. I couldn't believe the intense yanking. Maybe he was pissed Jake was playing too long. Who knows what brought that on, maybe pure adrenaline. DUNNO, but uncalled for.

The most glaring thing to me about JEL's playing has always been that he does not use a tremolo bar. With some types of music it's not as noticeable but with metal it's almost a necessity. He gets similar sounds by manipulating tuning keys and the strings behind the nut but to play this style of guitar well at all without a whammy is a technical achievement unto itself. Great technician, great guitar player.

Neat, he really chose that guitar over other models for the sound, nothing else. It was a tonal advantage and also allowed him greater pitch stability to do weird things like pitch the low E way down for 'stunts' and keep ADGBE playing in tune.
