They should have never stopped making single player Batman games! There's so much potential there. I love those games. They don't have to be in order. There's a ton of versatility with batman and all the different stories, timeliness, vibes, gameplay mechanics, environment design, detective work, etc. Why would they toss that out the video for 2 awful live service coop games! It almost feels like we are living in a altered time line where no one is happy because every video game developer is trying to make their own version of fortnite.

Many forget that the people that made Rocksteady great, left a long time ago. It’s a small number of people that actually create and lead the development of great games - not a company name. When those people leave… you get the point. BioWare, Arkane Austin, now Rocksteady.

This and Skull & Bones is a hard pass for me.

Legit want to know what the writer's were thinking with this. These deaths are god awful. How did this make it out the writer's room? Who's idea was this? How does a studio fall this hard?

Such a tragic downfall for one of the best AAA studios. Spending 9 years to produce a live service mess like this is sad. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if the studio gets shut down after this.

It hit me when I realized that all the cool animations are either "take away control- finishers" or hero-intros in the selection screen.

The reason they didn't give out review copies is because they don't wanna get review-bombed. They know they will get low scores and people won't buy the game based on bad reviews. They're waiting until release for people to make their purchases and that's when reviews will go out.

This game took a massive shit on dc characters, the Arkham trilogy, the old rocksteady, Batman, and the audience in general. To see them ruin the clear ending that Batman had in Arkham knight just to bring him back for a game nobody asked for so that Harley Quinn could shoot him in the head, like holy shit. I can’t imagine how disrespected the original rocksteady developers feel. Imagine putting your blood sweat and tears into developing amazing Batman games just so the entire story arc you created could be shat on and the character you love and adore killed in the most anti-climactic way by obnoxious, unfunny, bumbling idiots. And that’s only if we’re talking about Batman. I’m really tired of DC products that have a hate boner for their own characters. Shit is so wack. I hope this game and the new rocksteady fail. im not a hard core or serious gamer, i just try to play and have fun. alot of ppl didnt like Gotham Knights but i had alot of fun with it after it was patched and been out a while. ill go about this game the same way. wait for a steep sale in like 6 months.

Release date for me is release date+1 week to let the dust settle and my exact words were that Rocksteady deserve an even chance so it is a shame to see them doing this but; Some folks love live service, Many play live service, Many love looters, Many love high mobility games, Rocksteady are allowed to take a huge risk.

People are letting their hate for IGN cloud their judgement around WB withholding review codes if previews were critical. It is a really bad look and a terrible precedent to set.

Just watched WhatCulter Gaming's video about WB's future plans... The harder this game flops, the better our future will be. They want to push everything into live-service, inter-connected James Gunn-verse stuff which will make them creatively bankrupt because they'll stretch too thin or be forced inside too small a box... It's just all bad. This game needs to fail as hard as possible to hopefully prevent all their future games, especially that Wonder Woman game from going this route. They apparently didn't learn from Shadow Of War, so teach this old man the lesson again. ("How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, old man?!" Apparently several.)

The only thing that would make me play this game is if there's a cutscene of Kingshark dancing the tango with John Constantine

Games are getting more garbage business practices because consumers endorse it. The idiots who celebrate access media with journalists reviews turning into pure shill advertisements are the same kind of people who believe there's nothing wrong with new game plus being a special edition purchase, paid battle passes becoming the norm, and publishers laying off hundreds of staff for quarterly reviews. The shortsighted might say I'm unreasonable with my scattershot examples, but everything that's happened has happened as a result of voting with your wallet. This is the industry people paid for, and it's the industry people deserve.

There's a balance to be struck. Access should be given to reviewers with integrity who will give it a fair critical review. However I don't blame publisher for refusing to grant access to outlets who's integrity is questionable at best. IGN have a nasty habit of using their reviews as a platform for activism from people who are actively looking to push their values rather than genuine gamers who will give the game a fair and critical review. I'd ask serious questions about giving them review access

Well duh. Always online means YOU need to always be online. Not the servers. Ridiculous. The Arkham games made you feel like Batman, this game makes you feel like Batman's parents.

1st off, I am tired of people ignoring Origins. That was overall a great part of Arkham. I tried to keep an open mind with this, but it is nothing more than a reskinned Gotham Knights. I feel like I got ripped off with this one as well.

This game is great. I’ve been playing since yesterday. Just because the game doesn’t follow the Arkham formula doesn’t mean it is not good. The game is very smooth and is fun to play. Just enjoy it for what it is. The micro transactions are for cosmetics only. There will be a years worth of free content.

I think everyone had their mind made up no matter how good the game is. It isn't the Batman game people wanted, and the game will get panned because of it.

I always wait to see gameplay before purchasing so it doesn’t matter to me if a reviewer gets a early code or not. I don’t make my decision to purchase, or not, based on someone else’s opinion.

I couldn’t have imagined five years ago that Rocksteady would be releasing a game that I would have zero interest in purchasing. Asylum and City reignited my love of Batman and sparked my love of video games as a twenty something in college. I upgraded to PS4 solely so I could play Knight and happened to find dozens of games that have brought great joy to my life. It really makes me sad, I want to like it but very little about what I’ve seen appeals to what I love about video games.

So you admittedly held off criticism because “They earned it”. No they didn’t. This was the same logic people used for Cyberpunk, Star field, Redfall etc. This blind loyalty is actually detrimental. An honest discussion early with pro and con points would be more helpful. Each game should be judged on its own merit….not studio reputation. This could go the other way too. A studio/publisher with a poor reputation could release a good game.

Absolutely trash. They say you shouldn't judge a game until you play it. But aside from the fact that I will never pay $70+ for any game the second I knew that Sweet Baby Inc had their grubby paws in the game I was out. That was all it took. Same thing with Spider Mid 2 and God Of War 7. They are simply a cancer on the gaming industry.

Re: IGN - I don't think it was as simple as them giving negative preview. I remember they had it on their video headline "WE DID NOT LIKE IT". I've watched many of their negative previews but I had never seen them put it like that on the headline. It almost seemed like they had some agenda like drawing clicks. Publishers can take honest criticism but not that kind.

Damn, you must very limber. You bent over and around like a pretzel to put a positive spin on anything related to this game. Well, good luck with that. I gave up on this one the moment the first trailer finished. And everything they showed since has solidified that stance. I'll just replay the Arkham games. I wish more people would call out IGN. I quit visiting that site almost a decade ago because of the poor quality of their writing.

As someone who’s on the fence with the game I’m also worried about reviews giving the wrong impression or just seeing so many different ratings based on bias. Given previous reviews for games from top reviewers being very misleading, petty, or just strange given general consensus or what have you, it can be hard to take them seriously. Don’t get me wrong though, I still believe criticism and reviews should keep coming; but I think if you are playing a game and reviewing it for a job, it should be a game genre you are familiar with rather than something you’re not. Even then, one should still keep an open mind if they are tasked with playing a game that might not be what they’re used to. I do hope the game isn’t terrible and is maybe in the high 70s or low 80s, but I’m also expecting low 60s/50s range based on the current discourse of articles and just everyone doom posting.

I don't think I can take another 'camera rotates around character doing something we think is cool' shot. It didn't make me feel anything months ago; it certainly doesn't now.

IGN just really suck at reporting which is probably why they didn’t get a review code & clearly have a bias towards Marvel stuff. They rightfully criticized the game for what we knew was coming but saying the flash is too fast is really dumb
