Hi everyone! I decided to do something a little different today. I'm by no means a pianist, but here's a cover/mashup of two of my favorite songs from the Suikoden game series. The piano is live, and all the orchestration was done in Logic after the piano was recorded. The tempo is a little off towards the end cus I need a little more practice :P
Anyway, here comes a long little essay about what these games mean to me :P
Suikoden II was the first RPG that I ever played in my entire life (and I'm glad it was). The music was so well done (major props to Miki Higashino, wherever this wonderful lady is) and fit the storyline so well. I think the game resonated with me because the storyline goes beyond a lot of the more common and trivial themes you usually see in JRPGs. It's actually quite a sad game and I would recommend first timers to play the game without a walkthrough and NOT collect all 108 stars of destiny to see a more realistic version of how war divides even the best of friends.
"Reminiscence" (from Suikoden II) and "The Light Moaning In The Darkness" (from Suikoden V) are in my opinion the most emotive tracks from the series. They sound quite alike as well, since I think the makers of Suikoden V tried to mimic some of the better aspects of Suikoden II.
Well anyways, these songs/games mean a lot to me so hope you enjoy :P Leave a comment if you have played any games from this series and which game/songs you think are the best!

When I'm playing this game for my 1st time (I'm 11 years old back then) and listening to this OST, I'm having goosebumps without understand. Now I'm 29, I'm searching for Suikoden II OST and listening to this ~ Suddenly I'm having flashbacks on my previous sad memories happened in my life, my eyes are teary when I'm listening to this ~ Some of the game OST is healing, not every game OST is rocking ~ Some OST will make you touched. Now I understand why Suikoden II is so famous among many Suikoden game series, it's about friendship and never give up in your life.

S2 and S5 are the 2 suikoden series that really have a lot of impact on me. Their story telling is marveleous. 2023 will be a great year considering the old suikoden team will release eiyuuden chronicle hundred heroes. Not to mention that s1 and s2 will be getting a remaster.

When you play suikoden 2, it feels like you’re inside the game, you can really feel the emotions of every story, nostalgic, its like you really want to be part of the game and help them in the war. 😭

Suikoden 2 managed to do something almost impossible; It was a game about the power of friendship that was dark, sad and had a magnificent story.

I remember my first RPG was Suikoden I, and i thought it was another form of Tetris, bhahaha!! (i know it's weird now, but imagine the first time knowing rpg while all the games you played before were tetris and racing game). But actually the first RPG i'd finished was Suikoden II. The early friendship theme seems cliche but it does the perfect job of triggering my childish curiosity. Playing the game while dictionary on my side, , and 24 hours-of-gameplay later, i'm speechless

Suikoden 2 is the best rpg game for me. Listening to this brings back a lot of my childhood memories, good ol' ps1 days and it made me cry. And now it made me buy it again on PSN and install it on my PS3, i stopped playing my PS4 games just to replay this game.

I can't even remember how many times it broke my heart-even though I've already played it dozens of times already. Every character had their own unique story and everything felt so real and relatable in a way that's why it's so heartbreaking. 😭😭😭

OMG IT WAS YOU! I listened to this repeatedly 8 years ago. Only recently I rediscovered your amazing talent through your 6 pills song and became a huge fan.
