Next Amorphis, Death of a King

Thank you so much for checking out Amorphis! If you want to listen to more of their songs, I have three recommendations for you. For a more 'lullaby'-ish one, go for Silent Waters (I like the live version from Oulu). For a duet, check out Amongst Stars feat. Anneke van Giersbergen. And finally, though they have so many good ones, there's My Kantele, which has been recorded in a ton of versions, even acoustic.

Amorphis is my 7 year old daughters favourite band, we saw them live last summer and she loved every second of the show🤘

I used to listen to Amorphis before this singer replaced the last one long time ago. I really gotta go listen to the albums I missed. I think I will revisit their old albums as well... feeling nostalgic :)

Phenomenal band, had the privilege of seeing them open for Delain in Dallas back in October. I also saw recently that they are going to be opening for Nightwish on their rescheduled 2021 tour

Another great Finnish band, and one of the ancestors of Finnish metal. Their lyrics are often based on Finnish epic poetry and mythology Kalevala. This song is not even close to my favorites, especially this live version. I suggest that you try "Death of a King" (official video).

Amorphis - Death of a King would be a good one to react to as well; there's an official video for it, so the sound mixing is far better quality as well, and you can actually hear the drums ;)

Amorphis are a fantastic band and this song is one of their better ones, but whoof the mixing on this live video is awful. Doesn't really do them justice.

Sliver Bride by Amorphis is pretty dope aswell.

Due to the crappy live recordings, I usually only recommend Amorphis studio songs. This one wasn't so bad since it is a relatively slower song carried by the synth which usually pushes through well enough to make the recording listenable. They've only had one really well produced live show, "Forging the land of thousand lakes (Oulu)," so if you really want live Amorphis you should check out songs from that show (Majestic Beast and Elegy Medley are two I'd recommend). For studio songs, I'd recommend "The Four Wise Ones" (low and high growls), "Death of a King" (clean/growl mix), "Wrong Direction" (mostly clean vocals). If you get a chance to see them live, I'd recommend it. I've been to a couple of their shows here in the Chicago area and they always sound great. They've been around long enough that they know how to put on a good show. Plus they've opened for Nightwish many times so you may be able to see both bands in one night!

Please add Domination- Live from Band Maid to the Beanie of (so called) Justice! Its a crime it has not given you more than 1 Band Maid song to react to. Yesss! Queen of Time was my favorite metal album to come out in 2018. So many fond memories of listening to this song. I'd love to hear you take on Seven Spires-Drowner Of Worlds.

And on personal note, Tomi Joutsen is a universal weapon of a vocalist in possession of the "sexiest" growl I have heard - along with that smoooth baritone. Full package. Btw, from the few Finnish that I have gathered (YES, also these guys are Finnish legends - it's a land of legends!), "joutsen" litterally means "a swan". So the guy has his proper ancestors in Kalevala... and the thousand lakes are his home. :))) \m/

Standing in front of the stage it sounded much better than the video recording ^^ Seen Amorphis several times before and after and they are amzing live and one of my favorite bands...actually they were the last live band I saw (as co-headliner together with Dimmu Borgir) in the cursed year 2020. Go catch them if touring is a thing again!

They're supporting Nightwish on their tour next year. I bet McKinzie could sing both parts. She wouldn't be the first woman to cover Amorphis, singing and growling. Try "Minniva Official". Minniva is a Norwegian singer who does great Metal covers.

Cool fact last year the had a co headline tour with the band Delain in North America there drummer pulled double duty. First he played with Amorphis then played with Delain.

Have we talked already about our lord and savior Devin Townsend? He has pretty well-recorded live songs out there with Devin Townsend Project, and once you listen to Devin your life won't be the same. My suggestions are "Deadhead" (the Plovdiv version is mindbending), "Awake" from the By a Thread concert, "Kingdom" which has become a staple to reactions and "Juular" if you go for an official video of sorts.

You should not miss Silent Waters from Amorphis. I think album versions are far better incl the bee than live mixes they have.

Definitely check the studio version of this.

Yes ! One of my all time fav bands. Sadly there isnt many good live videos of theirs except for the Tales from A Thousand Lakes dvd. You gotta check out Silver Bride from that and Death of A King’s official video and My Kantele for their softer acoustic side. Nice video guys keep ‘em coming !

If you're doing ABCs I'm sure you have B already planned out for the next one but if not then "Soul Evisceration" by Bloodbath live from the Wacken Carnage would be a good one. That song has some drums right there. Amongst Stars is another good Amorphis song if you ever revisit them. Great video!

Finnish pioneers of progressive death metal coming up at the same time as Opeth. They had their proggy years and have moved back towards their earlier sound without leaving everything they've done in between behind. For a live performance, I think Forging The Land Of Thousand Lakes if a far better view and representation of the band, coming at the time of Magic And Mayhem, where the band re-recorded some of their early material.

For this song I actually prefer the studio version a lot more, you should give that a listen too. It gives me chills every time!

Unexpected but not at all unwelcome! I’m normally not the biggest fan of growl heavy music but I might be able to get behind these guys. How about All Shall Burn by Eleine, Ambiramus by Eluveitie, and Believer by Myrath all live preferably😁

I gotta admit, I used to sing that Mulan song in the car with the kids. Good times. I love the dude headbanging at the beginning to melodic synths and a delicate guitar loop. I also like how the impact of the key change on how hard the song might be to sing is negated by him going to the extreme vocals. Nothing's out of your range if you're just going to roar through it. Not my bag, but not bad either. Oh... that Suite Clarity symbol... is that your own version of the Majesty symbol? I mean, I can see the A for Anthony and the M for McKinsie... but where's the E for Ern? :-)

Amorphis is one of the greatest bands ever, they define FINLAND... I have been a massive fan for their almost 30 year existence.... first heard Tales from the Thousand Lakes in 1994 and it changed the course of music I listened to from then on.... fast forward to their 2018 and 2019 US tours and I flew to as many shows as I could attend, it was worth every single dollar spent.... they are pure magic!!!!! they are amazing live it just doesn't translate to this particular video unfortunately, not the best first listen choice... please try some other videos!
