Enjoy this format and style more than the food review videos. I think you definitely are onto something. Living in Thailand myself I can see a real market for up to date tour style videos as places come and go so frequently! Well done.

Thanks for the useful feedback. It's a format that I have been thinking of doing for some time. These sois are so long that most people do not walk all the way to the end of them unless their hotel is there, but being curious by nature I think people still want to see what is there.

correct, we are instinctively nosy on the whole, but time constraints, energy levels, effects of heat etc mean there's a whole fabric to the city that we necessarily miss

I stayed in a real dive in soi 1 on my first trip to S E Asia in 2005. It was near the second 7/eleven you passed by. Had mirrors on the ceiling. Classy! That's right, a converted brothel with bondage cross upstairs. There was a nightclub right below with thumping music until 3AM. I had a horrible headache. Not the best introduction to Bangkok. It was also flooded that year and a river formed in the soi. More like Venice than Bangkok. Happy to say my room bookings have been of a much higher quality ever since.

Lol - did you book that room by mistake or because you were on a budget? I've stayed in some real dives in Bangkok too. I remember one where it was so damp the wall paper was literally hanging off the walls. The sink in the toilet was broken and leaking everywhere. That was when I allowed a taxi driver to choose the hotel for me. Either hotel standards have become a lot better or internet review sites now allow more informed bookings. Probably go hand in hand.

Looks like we all do the same thing. I booked using a budget online backpacker site I no longer use. As you can see it was a bit hit and miss. I still enjoyed my first time in Thailand. Also almost got ripped off by a card playing scam mentioned in Lonely Planet. These days I book using Airbnb and booking.com and rarely have complaints.

that was a great story and probably thats when you have to develop a travellers sense of humour and truly find anything thats going to keep you light hearted in this city of amazing thailand land of smiles!!! i imagine the internet must have made avoiding such experiences a bit easier if you want a slightly more hassle-free life

Thank you for showing us Sukhumvit Soi 1, a nice balance between information, visuals, graphics and editing - and you were there on a nice bright clear day - shame you missed the art gallery!! Looks like you are there early morning-ish ...

This bring back memory because I used to work at the building on 3:24 for a year. Good to see things get update. However, the street eatery that the old lady greet you at 1:04 is one of the most expensive I had at any Thai street stalls.

speaking of personal insights I would add a focus in two ways - firstly if you do stop and patronise any of these shops, stalls, restaurants, massage places etc (you have informed us where you filmed and stayed here before which is great) - secondly focus on anything DIFFERENT EG the art collection we dont need to know eatery eatery eatery and be told office workers eat lunch there!!! EG. you pointed out the Hospital which is great

Gday mate 7/11 the falangs best friend ,good video plenty of massage parlours and coffee shops one thing tat did come to mind watching this was how narrow the sidewalks are sometimes a pain to walk down take care
@Eatsleepbangkok
@Eatsleepbangkok 6 жыл бұрын
You are right about the sidewalks - I need to be careful not to get runover when I change from side to side. Better to stay focused on the traffic than the filming.

These videos are nice and ok useful, I like a bit; but this guy only goes out at 8 am when everything is closed and shut down; we are also interested on the "main point of interest"....sex and I think this guy is showing that or is not into that or who knows; if you want to learn about the sex holiday in Thailand check out Bangkok112 channel.
