I like how you explain yourself I've said the same thing about the water. People need to educate themselves before purchasing a tortoise.. everytime I say that people think I'm crazy lol but its common sense to have it clean because they pee in it.

@@ShadowsReptiles exactly. You are doing a good job! Your video is really helpful for those that are interested in getting one. Just the other day I found a leopard tortoise on a rescue page it said that it was blind due to improper care. It got a bad eye infection & it never got treated. It's so sad..

deadlysin91 yea that sucks I have a Hermanns tortoise that has foggy eyes i don’t think she’s blind but they’re gray I got her a couples months ago but other than that she has perfect health

@@ShadowsReptiles it could be from age. Have you tried putting eye drops on your Hermann tortoise? On chewy . Com they sell repti turtle eye drops.

So how sociable are sulcatas? I’ve heard that other species of turtle recognize you and come to eat and feed out of your hand, do sulcatas do this as well?

i got a sulcata 2.5 inch. is it normal that the lower part of its shell is bendy?

Joe Boy Abalos the shell doesn’t get hard till 6-12 months of age if your Sulcata is older it can be deficient of calcium

I have a African Salcata what is the best food to feed them. Game and fish told me to feed them romaine lettuce and banana and apple and red cabbage is that right give it to him every day. I need help I rescued him from off the side of the road. Am I doing right?

Hello, here is a link to my care guides that goes over diet and husbandry. I wouldn’t feed them what they told you consistently it is not a healthy diet.

i grind eggshells and sepia shells to powder - own chickens and the beach is not far 😊😊. none of my tortoises eat dry food, neither do my cats and dogs. they all get natural and unprocessed food

@@ShadowsReptiles Thanks buddy! I'm currently binging on your videos like crazy. I'm in Broward and I thank you for your wisdom, experience and persistence in doing so many videos. I just got what I think is a little female Salcata so I'm having to learn quickly. I put her out in my front yard a couple times and these damned large green lizards rushed pretty aggressively, so she stays in my home unless supervised. Her shell is 6" long by 5" wide and I need your pug with the "black belt" to help me keep those predators away. Thanks again my friend! Appreciate you and your whole family! My best to you all.
