In our lab we used to practice...Salt is mixed with bacl2 ....Without heating u will get the same result of insoluble white precipitate in dil.Hcl

But Na2co3 extract reduce the chances of interference of any cations in confirmatory tests Anyway u r also right . I have watched other videos in which they directly add BaCl2
