This video confirmed for me what I’ve been feeling lately. Enough is enough! People are accumulating so many supplies they can’t even keep track of them. The real give away is to pack up some supplies and donate to a local charity or disadvantaged learning centre. I have some student quality supplies and as I have upgraded the quality of my materials I can donate them. I’m going on a no buy. I really enjoy your other videos. 🥰

Yes, I agree with you, which is why I was sure to put the disclaimer in the beginning that no one NEEDS all these supplies. As I stated some of these things were sent to me, either by members of the channel or by companies because they want me to review them. It is my hope that by reviewing so many supplies that it will help others be able to limit their choices vs accumulating a bunch of supplies that they will never use. I gift and donate supplies, and if not for being an artist that creates videos on KZfaq, I would not have so many supplies in my studio. I absolutely support anyone that is making the choice to go on a no buy and use what they have. It is a good thing to spend time with your favorite art supplies and get to know them, how they work, how you can use them and what their limits are. I also try to be conscious of this and state when I am doing a video creating art that viewers can use what they have and even offer up suggestions for substitutions in other brands to help. I often state what the pigment is that I am painting with and not just the color to help viewers be able to use that information and choose the right colors from their current supplies to paint along. I wish you well with the no buy, it can be hard sometimes to keep the want monster contained. Glad you are enjoying the other videos, hope you will stop by an upcoming live stream and say hello.

In my opinion, your comment is super unnecessary. Not everyone feels the way you do. Some people are collectors and like to not only use their art supplies but also to collect them as well. Art and art supplies bring joy to so many people...so why shame someone on how many items they add to their collection that brings them so much joy? We dont shame people for other collections... like collecting coins, or little cow figurines or funny mugs or concert t-shirts or model trains, or legos..etc. So please don't shame people for doing what they love and/or spending their own money on what they love. You can go on a no buy if that's what's right for you but what's right for some people is to NRVER go on a no buy...which is okay too. Like I said, I believe your comment was super unnecessary and was meant to be hurtful... if this video seemed like too much for you, then perhaps you should have clicked away...but definitely you should not have spent the few minutes you did on shaming someone for collecting the supplies that bring them joy. ●for all you people out their that love art supplies and purchasing them, using them and/or collecting them...you do you, don't let anyone make you feel like you need to explain yourself for spending your own money on what you love, please . You do you loves!!!

Consumerism is an addiction that needs to be openly recognized and treated. I'm not speaking to you specifically. I encourage people to be generous with the things they covet, that's generosity. Not giving away things of no use. I'm saying this to myself and challenging myself to exercise giving. So far it's much more satisfying than hoarding art supplies. Other than the essentials (food, etc) I feel art supplies have the potential to broaden perspective unlike many other commodities. I recognize that art supplies are only art supplies if actively being used. Keeping what I'm using and share the rest. Focusing on art and not the supply distractions. Again I'm sharing my experience and not passing judgment. Live and let live. Thanks for sharing your experience! Best to all!

Yes I think some people don't realise sadly, YyouTube is more about marketing than education. We need to look more critically at our consumption. I've worked with kids that would absolutely love the art supplies locked away in some people's cupboard. The next Picasso could be out there struggling for an oil pastel. I'm committed to doing better!

I consider myself blessed to be in a situation where I can receive things like what I have shared in this video. It lets me not only try new things but share them with an audience, where it is my hope, they will take that information and have a better understanding of whether or not the product would be something they would enjoy and be able to then prevent purchasing something they would not like and subsequently would not use. I often share, gift and donate supplies so that others can enjoy them vs them sitting and being stored in my studio. Yes I receive things because companies send things to me and yes that is one of their ways to get their products marketed and in front of an audience and yes some I purchase myself out of curiosity or because a viewer or Patron/Channel Member has requested I review something so they and others might know if it is something they would want or would be worth buying. However, I also try my very best to share the supplies in a way that will also provide an educational benefit, so that those who do choose to purchase things I share will know how to use them and they won’t just get it because an artist on KZfaq showed it to them and then it sits there untouched because they don’t know what to do with the supply. The endless supplies that accumulate and don’t get used because of lack of interest or desire to try them is why I stopped sharing art subscription boxes on this channel and created my own curated collections. It is also why I put the disclaimer right at the beginning of this video that people do not need all the things I shared. I think focusing on your art is a great thing and wish you all the best.

I know what you mean about "out of sight, out of mind". I have so many art supplies, that I just HAD to HAVE, in drawers waiting for me to start using them. For me, the more supplies I have, the harder it is for me to decide what to use/create. So, I started dabbling in mixed media, but watercolor and gouache will always be my passion.

Yes it can be overwhelming when there are too many choices. Sometimes when that happens to me, I will look for a reference that inspires me to paint it and many times when I find the reference I will look at it and think that would be great in pastels or acrylics, or gouache or watercolor or (insert medium) here, and then I have the spark that ignites the creativity. I have also had the opposite where I can’t pick a reference so I will pick what I want to use and look at the palette colors or swatches and see what types of things the colors make me think of and that helps. Worst case scenario nothing is working and I grab a palette and a blank page and start putting down blobs of color with no goal in mind and see where it takes me. That usually works, sometimes it just teaches me something and other times it becomes a painting I like or inspires me to paint something else.

I'm not you tube savvy so I apologize for not recognizing between art supply channels and art in practice channels. I have noticed that many advanced artist don't bounce around with supplies. It's an ongoing practice study and less is more. It actually offers cohesion to the piece. Finesse is only achieved through a seeing eye. So much available and thanks for sharing your interest. I'm just starting to discern the many options. 🌻

I absolutely agree with you about artists finding what they like and sticking with that to help them learn and grow. I know I certainly have my own favorites and when I am painting just for me, tend to gravitate to my preferred supplies to create with. Choosing a brand of paint and paper and working with just those supplies will teach you a lot. Here I try to share and review art supplies to help others make choices on what might be right for them based on what they see, and try to bring in some valuable information that can help artists that are early in their journey or are trying to learn a new medium and I have videos where we can paint together as well. Sometimes it’s fun and exciting to try something new too. I find as I try new supplies I am amazed at where my art journey takes me. Had I not tried something new, I never would have discovered my love for watercolors and would still be working in acrylics. That might not of been a bad thing, but I wouldn’t give up my adventures with watercolor because that is where I found the medium that would challenge and excite me to keep learning and continue exploring where I could take my art.

I was on the fence with w/n aqua green and after watching it being used I decided to go for it and I like it although it is a convenience color and I'm challenged enough just getting the potential from a nice 12 color palette. Awe yes, I put my two 18 well Meeden porcelain palettes together a few years ago. I only Filled the smaller wells and the larger ones on the other two sides of each will fit half pans perfectly , that I can set inside and switch out if I want. I like leaving some empty with a little water inside to rinse the heaviest pigment from my brush, before cleaning my brush. It gives me a nice light value of pigment that would otherwise go to waste. The only art supplies I have more than I need is paint and brushes. It's a collection that's over 12 years old. I retired from painting commission's a few years ago. I went back to the playing for therapeutic purposes. No more pressures, stress, or aggravations. Just enjoy.

I never tried QOR water colours before, but you got me curious now! I have photosensitivity, and I wear the sleeves runners and bikers wear (I bike too and do a lot of hiking, and they are really nice to wear, and on the plus side they also keep your skin on the cooler side. My last pair I bought at REI, but many outdoors gear places sells them. I would also recommend you get really good pair of sunglasses if you have photosensitivity.

The video starts with a scan of all the products and I did explain why this haul was happening because I wasn't expecting to do another this year and then we start taking them one by one by the 3:31 mark of the video when I share the items that were in transit but still things I considered part of the new products for the studio. I like what DaVinci paints I have purchased and used…I just prefer Daniel Smith and M. Graham…plus any other paint I happen to purchase. I enjoy all the pigments/colors…the dot cards from DaVinci do look cool.

I love when you guys make videos like this. That way I can avoid the videos of all the products you did not pay for with your own money. Not because I begrudge anyone getting products. I just can't stand when youtubers lie about being paid to review the product. They were. They were paid the price of the product. No different than an ambassador. Receive the product for a positive feedback. You were all absolutely 100% paid. Which is in fact the goal. If youtubers just admitted yeah, I was paid the price of the product for the review I'd watch the videos. When I hear you guys say I bought this with my own money; that's the product I'll write down to watch the review.

I always let viewers know if I was sent something, however I will add that my loyalty is to my audience, I let every brand that asks if they can send something know that sending it does not guarantee a "positive review" I give all those products my honest opinion. My goal is to help people make informed decisions not push whatever free product came by my desk. Videos and reviews take much more of my time than the monetary equivalent of what most products sent are worth. IMO I am going to want to like something that I spent my hard earned money on vs some free product sent to me but regardless of how I got the item I always share my honest thoughts about them. I can also respect your point of view and you will always know when someone or a company has sent me a supply. I believe transparency is best.

Phew, that was a doozy! I'm excited for the neocolor review/video. I like the New York paper (hot press) for watercolor backgrounds, then inking or doodling over. Not tried their cold press yet. Please ask your friend Lindsay if her stencils will ever come back. Every time I go look, they are out of stock. The test tube thing is very cool! I also like the idea of the brush holder on the turntable. Very interested in what you think of DaVinci paints. They have some wonderful colors. I'll keep the rest of my opinions to myself, so as not to influence your opinion. Wow you have some very generous viewers! Amazing! Thanks for what you do for us!

On that one paint pallet that you got where they all swing out, you have to let them dry before you put them up because I've had them stick to the lid or whatever you call it that they're on. But mine was a different brand though I didn't really care for that particular style palette. I am personally not a fan of the fan pallets.

i got the himi when it was briefly $9... mine also had some cracked paint cakes with bits "floating" and rattling around in there... i was at first disappointed. however.... after putting all the little broken bits in the right places, and starting to use the paints, they are wonderful. at least as good as Mei liang ... and probably the same as the old Himi watercolors that came in the diamond shapes!

A Gallo also have a YlnMn Blue option but the 1/2 pan is €40 and the full pan is €60. You can get it in their sets though that makes it roughly the same price as all the other colours.

The only professional watercolors I have are the very few Daniel Smith that I've managed to acquire over the last year and a half which equals a whole 7 although I desperately need a split mixing set and burnt sienna LOL my preference would be the Italian burnt sienna that they have because it's more granulating, and the lovely half pans of da Vinci's that were sent to me by Miranda. In a very happy for all of you that you get all of these beautiful supplies but I'm sad that then they sit.

@@ClarkFineArt my two teenage step granddaughters are wonderfully gifted artists but you know our family's finances are not in a good place right now. My 10-year-old grandson is trying so hard to be artistic and learn and he's doing well at it but again I would like to do more for the kids but right now I'm just not able to. Please pray for us that things will improve financially and I can help Foster their gifts. Also to Foster mine I'm really good with pencils and trying to learn more about watercolor. I think it's the perfect thing to do backgrounds for the photo realistic animals that I draw. So I'm praying and I'm hopeful. By the way right now Michael's has a buy one get one free on Daniel Smith. Maybe you'll want to let people know so that they can get to it before the sale ends.

Also, when it was announced that PO48 was being discontinued Daniel Smith went and bought up the ENTIRE remaining stock of it. And when I say the entire stock, I mean he bought up ALL of it EVERYWHERE. He has said he has enough PO48 to continue making his paints that contain it for decades to come. Yup. Literal decades. I went crazy stocking up on it cuz it's my favorite color ever (Quin Gold) for painting light. I have so much Quin Burnt Orange AND Quin Gold and I regret NOTHING! LOL, I stocked up before I heard his statement.

I am new to your channel. I have been watching since yesterday! I really enjoy them and yes I watched the whole haul vid. You had me laughing when you talked about white geli pens. Welcome to the channel, I am glad you are here. The list is long that is for sure, but that just means lots to come as we get to look at all of these things and see them in action. White geli pens are my nemesis! Works perfect, put the pen down for a second then pick it back up and it’s like nah just joking, I don’t feel like writing today. lol There will be lots more QoR adventures to come! Hello! Thank you for sharing.Can you avdice any Meedin porcelain palette for gouache? I think it should be closed,shouldn’t it?

For Gouache I would use a sealed palette like this one from Meeden, the 33 well leak proof (this is the one I have my Mission Gold watercolors in), the gouache could still dry out but it would take longer. However, normally it can be rewet like watercolors. go.meedenart.com/3PuDVZW that is the palette and you could always use a porcelain tray to mix on if you prefer. I like the 3 well go.meedenart.com/44FvFg5 and the flat open spaced tray palette go.meedenart.com/4faAxic It would depend on the brand of gouache as to if I would dry it in one of the open ceramic palettes with wells and how many colors you are wanting to put into a palette would also impact which one I would recommend. They are a little different than our “traditional watercolors” but I find them a lot of fun to paint with.

That meeden fan pallete is nice but if you close it when the paints are still wet they stick to the tray above them plus’s the wells are very shallow

Yes the wells are definitely shallow, I had one color that popped out, they are thin. Thanks for sharing, I will remember that about the wet palette, of course I don’t always have time to wait for it to dry when it’s time to go, I wonder would a piece of glassine above the colors help to prevent it from sticking to the piece above or would this cause more of a mess… sounds like some experimentation is in my future.

Sorry, just makes me so sad and upset when I see this happen to someone else, as an artist who has had this happen to myself for cheap sub par quality product it just breaks my heart. Blue Star Crafts on Etsy is the original. His work is fabulous. Yes expensive but the quality is impeccable.

42:21 on UV protection. Check out UV protective sleeves for your arms. Like you, I have very sensitive skin and these have been excellent to block the sun. Hats, glasses and even an umbrella are part of my outdoor set-up. Take care! ☀️😎🏖️ I look forward to seeing what you create with these new and beautiful art supplies.

In my recent video where I share what is in my small plein air bag, I showed UV sleeves. They are a must, I can’t give up painting outdoors! I have the sleeves, now the hat from QoR and I have a UV blocking umbrella that I take out too and carry spf50 at minimum to keep the UV from causing a reaction. The summer is too short here I have to take advantage of the days I get to go outside and not let my condition stop me from enjoying Plein Air painting and being outdoors.

@@ClarkFineArt Sounds like a great set up. I do the same as you. I love being outside but the sun is so strong in the summer that I do everything to protect myself from it. Our summers in northern 🇩🇪 are also short, which is why I want to make the most out of them, to charge my batteries for the grey and long winter. Thanks for taking the time to reply

Cheap Joe's has their own in house line of watercolor sticks. That are a little less expensive than the DS watercolor sticks.

My sponge with the case was an item I had tried from Temu. I don't have any affiliation or links with them, however bit.ly/spongewithcase That is the much shortened link that would get you there (Temu) to take a look at the item or if you don't shop Temu, you could search for something similar on Amazon, but I have not seen one. You could always just get a plastic container to fit a regular kitchen sponge. Perhaps something like this amzn.to/4byPY0s as it is similar in size to what mine came in. I could not find it in a single though. Hope that helps. (amazon link will be an affiliate link)

OMGee...When you started talking about white pens....I knew the first two you would mention that you're not so crazy about...just the same for me. Gelly Roll and Uniball Signo, Uniball Signo being just slightly better...yes! I can't tell you how frustrating it is when both of these pens decide they're not going to work anymore. The ink formula just seems to dry up in seconds. There is a kind of "Search for the Holy Grail of white pens" that many artist's go through. I don't think the Holy Grail white pen has been found yet. The quest is ongoing and the journey is long.,,but maybe not if the one's you have now are good. Fingers crossed.

They did get back to me seems there was most likely a technical issue with the first email via their website because when I emailed the second time they were quick to respond and help me! I definitely am feeling reassured with the customer service I have had since. I can't wait to try their paints.

It's one way for them to get their product in front of more eyes. I would rather they support creators vs mass advertising "commercials" and make the products affordable as an entry into watercolor. However, I know some do have issues with products coming out of China, I have started using the paints and will have a video on my opinions of them soon.
