Sarah in Scotland

Күн бұрын

Some footage from May and June, some chatting about what's been happening, and in general just figuring life out together. Living in Scotland during summer is such a blessing and I can't get enough of the incredible scenery and abundance of nature. Although we are going through a difficult time of grieving, we are trying to find joy in the simple every day things like gardening and pizza parties in the back of our car.

Dear Sarah, You are so very loved. Please keep this channel just as it is! This channel is so unique and precious. I can’t wait to get one of your notifications because your videography is a feast for the eyes and the heart. Like you, I am grieving. We have grief brain together. This is a very real thing. I am seeing a grief therapist who has been helping me deal with it. I have so many deaths of people and animals whom I deeply loved in the last 3-1/2 years that I became incapacitated. My 11-year-old Black Lab had to be euthanized in April. I have always had a dog and since my husband passed in 2018, she has been my primary companion. I went to the county animal rescue and adopted a little Rat Terrier who is majorly important in my recovery. Aimee was a rescue dog, too. I know she is happy that I have honored her love and memory by rescuing another dog. She was so very important to me and like you, I made sure that her final hours were as comfortable and happy as possible. The end was sudden, only a day and a half for me to prepare. Your grief resonates in my heart and I wish I could wrap my arms around you and rock you until the pain fades. Threat yourself with as much compassion and love as you would your dearest friend who had such a loss. It is the only way to recover. This is a healing process from a very deep wound. All my love, SueEllen.

I love both of your channels. I always get excited when you guys post a new one. Both your channels offer different things and add a new dimension to the world of Sarah and Wolfie in Scotland. As a person who is just returning to drawing and painting, I find your art channel help fill the gaps in my art knowledge. As for Vader, I remember when my sister's cat passed away after 15 yrs of joy. We miss him. I always remember him as a brave soldier. Remember all beings go back to the earth and become a part of all the causes and conditions we experience every day. vader is everywhere you look. He's in the trees, the flowers, and the clouds in the sky whenever you see a raindrop you can see Vader. As for the Pizzas, I'll have a slice of both, please! 🤣 I will say yours is more attractive to the eye with all its variation in texture and color. It also doesn't look as heavy. As for Wolfies, I like mushrooms, go Wolfie! I will end my stream of consciousness now. LOL, Lots of love to you both from America. 😊💛

My wonderful friend Helen gave me the book 'Grief is a thing with feathers' after my Mum passed away...12 years ago. I love it and cherish it, as Helen herself passed away this January. Your recent vlogs have helped me and I want to thank you, it is hard!! 🫂 X

Thank you so much for that heavenly slice of your local landscape. Took my breath away. I thought you'd decided against going into the water. What a waste that would have been. Just a comment, in case it may be helpful. It took me a while to figure out out, and I'm not at all sure it applies to anyone but me, but..... I don't think the grief ever goes away, I miss every kitty that's ever owned me, going back almost 70 years, it can overpower me still. I think we weave it into our lives, we work around it. Not in a bad way, it's lovely to recall all the wonderfulness of being blessed by having them in our lives. You are such a dear heart, take care ♥️

Sarah and Wolfie… this is such a lovely video! The beginning footage drew me in… so peaceful and beautiful! Your cinematography always captures my heart and soul and surrounds them in peace! Sarah, I appreciate you sharing your deepest feelings - your joys and gratitudes, and your frustrations and sorrows. It keeps you real to me. I’ve learned the phrase that time ‘softens’ grief. It never totally leaves, but becomes gentler/softer over time. I’ve found that true. You may as well. And I appreciate you sharing your values and what is most important for business, and what is just for fun and joy! It’s great to see your family partnership thriving. Wolfie adds an extra charm to these videos, and also gives us more clips of you! And by the way, the overhang back window… great for plein air in rainstorms… oh, and I vote for Sarah’s pizza… lots of veggies, and olives, and it’s round!

"Softens" is a great word for it. I've learned not to hide it or suppress it because that makes it worse. I just let it flow. Which means I mostly avoid seeing any people because I never know when I'm just going to be hit with a wave of sorrow and I can't stop crying. But...yes I slowly feel the 'softening.' Thank you 💜

Oh Sarah, I just want to give you a big hug. It's so hard to lose the loving spirit that was your pet/companion/friend. You're right, it gets better with time. I know you will eventually encompass all of it, and realize Vader is still with you all the time, just not in physical form. The aerial drone footage at the beginning just makes me want to be a bird in Scotland in my next life. I don't subscribe to your other vlogs, just this one, precisely because this IS your side hustle. Glad you have realized it doesn't matter what we all think! We like you just the way you are.

I’ve been to Scotland 4 times and I am always fascinated by the ever changing landscapes. The video and editing you both are putting out is amazing. Thank you for sharing Scotland with us! I feel your pain. In March we lost our 17 year old Border Collie. No matter the age or circumstances losing our fur babies is hard. I still find myself crying over a FB memory that pops up. When you talked about your grief this time I was feeling it with you, and I wanted to share a brief part of a poem by Sorley Maclean, translated from the Gaelic….”Beyond misery, despair, hatred, treachery, Beyond guilt and defilement, Watchful, heroic, the Cuillin is seen is seen, rising on the other side of sorrow. Natures powerful beauty is always there for us. All the best to you as you continue your healing journey 💗🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Haha… you can’t ask people to pick favourites based on pizza, I can’t hurt anyone’s feelings!! 😂 I love that you share a mish-mash of videos on this channel, that’s what makes it even more interesting, I think. It’s not “just” one thing! I can understand keeping a painting channel, or cooking channel, or DIY channel focused… but this is such a lovely “life” channel. I have really enjoyed all the types of videos you’ve shared here! I’m glad I stumbled here from your painting channel. 😊 As for the grieving process, it’s only June. I don’t think anyone would expect you to be over your sorrow so quickly. When such a significant part of your life is missing, it takes a long time to reach the point where it doesn’t hurt unless you’re distracted. I remember the silliest memories would bring tears for quite some time, but I eventually reached a point where the memories were comforting instead of just making me miss them more. It’s tough. It sounds like you’re doing the right thing by being extra kind to yourself and allowing some slowness in your life. When you’re grieving, you’re in survival mode and you definitely have to cut yourself some slack.

It's wonderful that you're able to visit so 'often' although I'm sure it feels like not often enough! That's kind of how I feel about visiting family in the US now.. Once I get my IRL visa I can travel more freely and visit the states every year (finances allowing) which will be great.

I highly enjoy both of your channels. Loved this video. Glencoe is so stunning. I loved that footage. I can only imagine that being there in person is even more breathtaking and awe inspiring. Two months isn't much time to grieve. I hear you on how exhausting it is to go through the grieving process and having to rethink on how to spend energy. We lost one of our cats shortly after Christmas this last year and our other one not even two months later. They were both seniors and had health issues but losing our companions of 15 years so close together has been very difficult. Even six months later it still hits hard at times. I learned when I lost my gelding (horse) that I had had for twenty years back in 2016 that the first year is the hardest to get through. So being kind to yourself through the next year will be very helpful in the healing process. I am so glad that Floki is doing well.

I enjoy all your videos on both channels. I am an artist and I love Scotland! What’s not to love. So sorry about Vader. I felt the same way about each of my precious Scottish terriers…Bonnie, Bess and Mollie. I still miss. It just takes time as you said to get through the grief. They are part of the family. I loved the gorgeous Glencoe video. Botha times I was there it was green and lush. Absolutely beautiful. Please go back when the Heather is in full bloom. I have never seen it and would love to. Based on just a visual of the pizza, I would vote for Wolfie. Sorry Sarah.

Sarah, you are a special, thoughtful, talented, caring soul. Thank your for the wide variety of topics you cover on this channel. My husband and I lost Zena, our beloved border collie mix, suddenly, a few years ago. She was 9 and we thought she had a few good years left. She was full of life and healthy, we thought. We are still grieving but grateful for the time we had with her. She was a one of a kind dog. We cherish the time we had with her but will never get over her loss. We are so very sorry for the loss of your Vader. In September, for the second time, I am coming to Dundreggan to volunteer with Trees for Life. Your channel gets me excited about coming to Scotland again. I will be spending a day in Inverness in September and hope to go north to the coast to walk along the beach near Nairn. This is all because of your coastal walk. I want to see a bit of the coast too. You and Wolfie seem to be a great team. It is so wonderful to see young people following their dreams as you two are doing. Life is too short to do otherwise. I have to go with Wolfie's pizza under the over hang. No black olives for me! All the best to both of you. Your hard work is appreciated, even if KZfaq does not recognize it!!!

So sorry for your loss of Vader. I had a dream years ago that I ended up in cat heaven. Upon arrival, all of my beloved kitties were there purring loudly and waving their tails as if to say hi! Other kitties were there too, shoulder to shoulder- as far as you could see, all the way to the horizon, and they too were purring loudly and waving their tails. I guess it was their way of telling me that they were happy and doing fine in their new home. I enjoyed the visit! I have a 14 year old rescue cat named TootToot and 3 other feral cats (now tame) that showed up at my house and adopted me. I found you while looking for a watercolor video. I'm just starting to experiment with watercolor and gouache due to the portability. I love painting in oil and in soft pastels and so I will probably end up liking gouache more than watercolor-but then again-who knows? I love nature, hiking, biking, gardening, great food, photography, painting, and cats, so I think I've found the perfect youtube buddy! I thoroughly enjoy all of your videos. You make me feel like I'm there enjoying it with you! You have made it the next best thing to being there! I look forward to each video. Scotland is such a beautiful place! Talking about your grief can actually help you heal. I love your garden and all the flowers. As for the pizza, any kind will do. LOL They both look delicious!

Sarah, I thoroughly enjoy this channel and your art business channel. This channel is wonderful BECAUSE of the variety. I always think to myself, "Sarah really should be the ambassador of tourism for Scotland. " Please, keep having fun with this channel. It's perfect and getting to know you and your adopted home is special. Also, I lost my beloved boxer/lab, Coopie Boy, a couple of months before you lost Vader and I felt exactly the way you are feeling. You're not alone. Our pets become best friends, confidants, therapists and cherished family confidant,. Hugs to you!

Good on your for re-grounding in what you want to do with this channel. I think people that are here value your authenticity, so ironically, I think worrying less about analytics will probably not affect your analytics at all. Counting down…just three weeks to Glencoe and Skye!

Wolfie is so funny and sweet. 😂He’s like a little boy in puddles. Your car will be very convenient for your trips. Just love your videos on both channels. ❤I knew he would pick meat lovers. Gosh that’s hard. I do not like green peppers on my pizza but I’m good with the other stuff. It’s a draw for me. And I was one year losing my dog Doesel on July 1st. I still get choked up but it is much easier now. I’m feeling like I’m forgetting little things. But thank God for video. I didn’t have that with my other dogs. I now have a Boston terrier pupppy, different co,or than Diesel was, and he’s a handful. Oh my gosh how different they are. But we love him and it fills the hole we had. We can share the love that Diesel gave us, with this new little guy Tully. But boy is he mischievous .
