HIDDEN LAKES
The last weeks I’ve been alone in Whitehorse, exploring this new city and all the beautiful places in the area!
These are the Hidden Lakes, there’s a hilly trail all around them, with lovely views from basically everywhere! I went back with the SUP and had the chance to spot beavers swimming!!!
MILES CANYON
Beautiful walk to Canyon City together with Yukon Conservation Society, learning about plants, geology and history!
GREY MOUNTAIN
Called The May in Southern Tutchone, I hiked to its summit as a loop, passing through the Money Shot trail.
The views from the top of Whitehorse and all the surrounding mountains and lakes are incredible!
CHADBURN LAKE
My favourite…so peaceful, the colour of its waters is stunning, Grey Mountain in the background…perfect, especially on my new paddle board 💙
YUKON WILDLIFE PRESERVE
Beautiful landscapes and stunning wildlife…some of the animals are rescued, others were born here…I was lucky enough to see most of them! Here you have bisons (with a cute baby), muskox, bighorns, mountain goats, elks and caribous with some impressive antlers!
LONG LAKE
Our “home lake”…it’s directly in front of our place across the Yukon River!
There are many trails all around Long Lake and other smaller ones and many little beaches where to chill!
FISH LAKE - Łu Zil Män
Fantastic hike up along the ridge to the second summit, with incredible views all around!
ANNIE LAKE, ALAYUK & KOOKATSOON LAKE
Day trip to wild and spectacular Annie Lake, visiting first Alayuk for a dose of cuteness where @ introduced me every single sled dog 💛 On the way back quick stop at Kookatsoon Lake with its stunning water colour!
SPIRIT CANYON
3 days out hiking and camping solo!
The long hike I planned for the morning had to be cut super short when I encountered a mum moose and baby on the trail!
So I opted to explore Spirit Canyon, a short easy hike with stunning views of the Ibex Valley and a little rocky canyon!
PINE LAKE
First solo camping experience in this lovely campground with an incredible background of mountains and so many birds swimming and flying around!
KING’S THRONE
One of the toughest hike I’ve done…it took me 3 and a half hours to climb from Kathleen Lake up to the summit, the trail was steep and rocky, and oh so scary at times! But the views just got better and better…
And when I finally got to the top it was beautiful beyond words…valleys, rivers, lakes, and mountains seemed to continue without end. The weather was great and I could see the large massif of Mount Alverstone, Mount Hubbard, and Mount Kennedy!!!
KUSAWA RIDGE
After a night spent at the campground by the beautiful Kusawa Lake, I hiked the Kusawa Ridge Trail with its stunning views of the lake, valleys and mountains all around!
NATIONAL INDIGENOUS PEOPLE DAY
Last Friday, on Summer Solstice, I volunteered at the beautiful Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre for the National Indigenous People Day…the ceremonies and dances were incredible and I learned a lot at the artists workshops!
CANADA DAY
Morning parade and afternoon concert at Shipyard Park, incredibly inclusive of all the different ethnicities and cultures that are part of Whitehorse!
