Күн бұрынThe first half of the Summer Jam 12 Ultimate Mortal Kombat Tournament, hosted by Big E Gaming Live from the Crown Plaza in Cherry Hill, NJ - September 1st, 2018. This event was played on MAME emulation featuring the UMK3+ "Plus" Arcade Rom Hack made by@TehDrewsus and @ZPaul2Fresh8. This tournament was entirely impromptu and unplanned beforehand and contained some extremely fierce high level competition. Check it out!

I love seeing Mortal Kombat 3 being played competitively. Brings back memories of being in my home town and unlocking Ermac and Mileena in the Cabinet they had in the theater. Really incredible hack too!

UMK3 was (and still is) the best skill based TOURNAMENT MK ever. It all boils down to footsie's and execution. So impressive that 24 years later and the game still looks damn fine.

No. MK9 far outmatches it. Kabal in MK9 takes infinitely more skill than anything in umk3. Put those rose tinted glasses away please.

I think MK9 was not in the competetive league(the characters were unbalanced, really), but it was incredibly fun. UMK3+ by tehdrewsus made the game the best competitive MK game, although unofficial.

Love watching shock play reptile! Takes alot of skill in high level but a great entertaing character to watch. Would of been nice to see some high level Jax and Sonya!

Best UMK3 tourney I have ever seen. The big pros end up having Human Smoke v Human Smoke matches throughout and it sucks to watch.

Hi! Sorry if I'm a bit late, but why not use TE? It's more gameplay-ish centric with many improvement rather than the restorations of +. Is this a showcase of +? Also, is there any more tournies happening? And is TE getting updates? Last update was 2018, I think. Is the current version of TE considered complete?

Plus was used rather than vanilla to show the updates, TE is always a WIP and has been on hold because there hasn't been time to work on it. If and when it resumes, there will be a lot of reverts on things that were tested and didn't work properly or make sense.

Which model CRT TV can I get to work on my UMK3 board without it flickering?

It depends on what type of video output you're using but the Sharp 27C530, Sharp X-Flat 27F541, probably any Sharp with Component will work without using a scan converter, meaning if you can do some kind of Component output conversion (from SCART or VGA) it'll work but you might have to mess with the picture orientation through a "hidden" Service Menu that you'd access through a remote control code. Sanyo DS series seem to work as well for Midway boards. We're trying to compile a list for people who want to do console projects. Trinitrons do not appear to be able to accept a straight board signal for example, which is unfortunate because they are so good otherwise. I want to try a Wega to see if Sony updated anything after that might work.

@@KombatNetwork I have a Toshiba flat CRT model that I use for my CPS2 dark soft hardware and that works perfectly fine obviously but it does not work for my Midway boards

@@lancecowburn1693 it probably needs something like the OSSC to adjust the signal because of the refresh rate, I've done it on several Trinitrons and a JVC and it works that way only

There are a few hackers in this community and through some clever program editing, they have managed to change and/or add a lot to the game.

@@vinny736 This a modified version of the arcade, for a more complete experience that the devs were unable to achieve due to budget and time constraints, no gameplay modifications in this version.

The bomb combo can definitely get you a good 70%+

Teleport collision, placement and destination are highly dependent on opponent position in relationship with the edge of the screen.

To put some perspective on this, just about everyone on commentary was also playing. There were also only like 10 people total involved in the tournament. This event was a gift to the community, no refunds.

Nice! You may be able to beat everyone in this tournament, but could you beat everyone who says they would beat everyone in this tournament, in a virtual tournament? I'm curious who would win that, in an imaginary tournament of people who don't show up to a real one.

To play in a real tournament, you have to get up off the couch and travel to the tournament venue. Beating everyone in cyberspace is not the same.
