An important part of my summer morning routine is watering my vegetable garden. In this video, I’m also making a delicious breakfast with fried kale, mushrooms, and eggs.
This week, I’m sharing footage of the garden in the early morning and my watering routine. First things first-coffee! The vegetables are growing fast and need plenty of water. One nice thing about watering in the early morning is how the sunlight sparkles in the droplets of water. I collect rainwater in several water butts around the garden and use both a watering can and a battery-operated pump to use a hose.
You’ll see me taking a break to make breakfast: crispy fried kale (from the garden) with mushrooms and fried eggs (local, free-range, and organic) on sourdough bread from the local bakery. The kale has grown really well, and I’m trying to find different ways to use it. This recipe turned out very nice, and I’d highly recommend it-the kale is a bit like the crispy seaweed you might have had at a Chinese restaurant or takeaway.
As is often the case here, it was really windy on the day I filmed, so sorry for the noise 🌬️-as you’ll see, Tinky (the cat) doesn’t really like it either.
