I love that you actually take us along with your daily chores in the garden. It’s nice to see real planting, weeding and seeing the your beautiful flowers grow. So many gardening channels are focusing on tours of other peoples gardens and not sharing the daily life in a garden. You take us shopping then share what you bought and then where you are going to plant the new stuff. That’s real gardening to me. Thanks for bringing us along you! This early brutal Texas heat is causing my plants struggle as well. Thanks for he survival strategies! Lantana, portulaca, moss rose, zinnias and marigolds are still good. Coleus and begonias still good in the shade. Love your new plant purchases, especially the multi-tonal zinnias for fall color!😊❤❤❤

If you're looking for a good heat tolerant groundcover, I planted from seed some creeping zinnia. It handles the heat without any scalding or wilting. I splash some water on once a day but they are true champs. They are also in full sun. We are in our 9th day of 110°+ (a couple of 118°)and my creeping zinnia is still looking great.

It was 95 degrees in Washington DC, yesterday and I went to American Plant Food nursery. Glad I'm not the only crazy plant lady. They had a huge selection and most plants were in good shape. Love your zinnias. I bought some more lantana, cone flowers, nepeta and cardinal flowers.

@@shesamadgardener I think I will! If I could, I'd eat an avocado every day. I buy mine at Aldi, believe it or not, and they're great. But I am now determined to find a dwarf-sized avocado (do they even exist?) to add to my mini-orchard (along with lemon, lime, and calamondin ) in my little Frisco yard.

It's so hot here in N. Florida, I miss my yard, but by the time I get home from work I'm drained. To beat the heat, I get in my garden by 8:30 or 9:00 pm.

Hey Amanda, I was at Home Grown yesterday. I bought the caladiums in pink, ajuga chocolate chip, pink gaura, and Scaevola in pink. Although it is, heat tolerant, I feel that Scaevola does not like Texas full sun. Or it was located in the covered section and I shocked it by planting it outside in the full sun. So I may need to gradually introduce it to the Texas heat. P.S. I'm not sure if it was a one day only but, Shades of Green is having a 50% off 1 gallon perennial containers.

Check out the Pennisetum for grasses I have that I just love and is growing well even in this heat. I got mine from Bluestone during the spring sale 😊 Thanks for the tour good to see what’s available during this time.

Oh my. I'm in south central KS almost on OK border. Everything here is on sale and marked way down. Some of those plants look horrible and would be marked way down here. But fun to see other plant centers.

Yeah this is a local nursery and it’s their only location, so they don’t usually run sales … the plants that are in rough shape tend to come back once the heat breaks, so they just wait for that to happen.

Figs are almost a lie in our area of Texas. Most figs won’t ripen and then it’s winter and they die back.

What plants are you wanting to plant right now? Also, when do you go to annuals to plant? Due to water restrictions I'm bringing my gardens down to hardy drought tolerant perennials to make it thru summer and vegetable garden. Tomatoes and cucumbers are coming in like gangbusters and and any suggestions to do something with basil would be helpful. My cutting them back only antagonized them.

I wonder if nurseries purposefully sell plants that aren’t in their growing zone to make inexperienced growers buy more plants when they die. There were so many that weren’t in your guy’s zone!

This nursery is very reputable and the things that aren’t in our zone act as annuals for our area. But I can understand how someone without experience would struggle.
