If you paint rocks red and put them in your strawberry patch a month before the strawberries come in, the birds and squirrels will go to eat them then realize they are rocks. then when your strawberries come in they think those are rocks 😉 worked like a charm for me this year, i had triple what i usually have cuz there were no critters eating them and i didn’t have a net or fence

Personally, I like to leave a little bit of my garden's harvest for the local wildlife. I think it's nice to share a few strawberries or cabbages with the critters-they're just trying to survive too. I wish more people could do the same 🥺

I've also read that they eat a bite here or there for the water content. Some have had success putting a dish of water or even a little solar fountain in the garden.

I follow you from Boulder, Colorado. I’m deeply inspired by the beauty of your garden. At this altitude the growing season is very short, so there’s not much one can do. I also wanted to commend you on the exceptional professionalism of your videos. Your storytelling is captivating, your use of the English language is superb, and it’s admirable how detailed and poetic you are in describing not only your activities and visits but also each product you feature. The “more” section is comprehensive, detailed, and all the links work flawlessly. I’ve seen videos from creators with more followers that don’t have half the quality you offer here. The photography is stunning, and the music selection is fantastic. I also deeply appreciate your gentle nature, the lack of drama, and of course, Charlie’s lively and still innocent personality. Why you don’t have 1 million 550 thousand subscribers is a mystery to me … pigeon! Everything you do is elegant; choice of content, videography, music, editing … all so viewer focused and respectful. Your comments are also ‘real’ - that is, not planted by family and friends with a pre scripted message - so I know I’m not the only one who feels this way, genuinely. Sorry Josie you are wrong! It was Cumbria that led the way with boogie farm shops. Tebay opened probably 20 years ago and has more recently opened Gloucester and ??? For all those years Tebay was the only decent farm shop in the UK. Westmorland is a part of Cumbria hence the name. I think I am right in saying that the original owners,who may have been farmers, employed a buyer from Harris Food Hall, to set it up. It isn’t often the north has anything to shout about in terms of farm shops, but we can claim this one! 🤣

If you haven't yet watched to the end of the vlog, it is entirely worth it for Josie's pigeon impression! As a Northerner, I can confirm that Tebay services is equally as wonderful as Gloucester and you can sit outside and enjoy fantastic views over to the Lake district fells 💗

So lovely having a coffee and walk in the garden to wake one’s soul. The summer shoes look very comfortable. I love dead heading roses, the petals are so pretty gathered together. Here is a tip to avoid the almost inevitable 'plane air conditioning' cold when you travel, given to me by my GP who said she was fed up with getting a head cold on the outgoing journey of a vacation, then recovering during the two/three week holiday and then getting another infection on the return journey. She recommended First Defence micro nasal spray (Vicks) it coats the inside of the nose where most bugs proliferate. It works for everyone I've passed this tip to and of course is also recommended for use and the very very first sign of a sore tickly throat, sneezing etc.

Loved the pieces from River Island. The pale yellow dress, although a cheap fabric, was actually my favorite. You looked so pretty in it. I very much enjoyed your Ibiza vlog. Charlie was so sweet to plan such a great trip and "Happy 1st. Anniversary" to you both.

They ate all my roses, daisies, flowers, young lemons and leaves too. Also stole or ate some bulbs. Get bird nettings (fr Amazon), wad them up and put around bases of plants or over your potted bulbs/flowers. This helped me to have a few blooms this summer.

There's a service station in the Lake District which is like Gloucester Services. Bizarrely, there's a documentary about it on channel 4, as it was so unique. I think the one in the Lake District opened in the 70s and was one of its kind for a long time.

Hi Josie. I’ve been following you since last Christmas since we went to the Cotswald and fell in love! I was so happy to find your vlogmas it got us through missing The Cotswalds and the COVID we caught while in London jammed packed Christmas week, I’m commenting to tell you I so enjoy your vlogs and beautiful home, but also as a nurse please get your foot checked by a dr, there are many bones in the foot esp the top, you could further damage it by exercising w/o dr approval, I’m sorry to step out of my place, but I don’t want you to really damage it, keep up your beautiful vlogs! You should walk barefoot on the grass for 15mins to ground your body. Air con on planes passes germs around to passengers I wish they would do away with it. Are your raspberries the thornless variety ? Hi Josie, about 10am here in California, I got my jog in at 7 am because its going to be 97 degrees today. Everything looking beautiful where you are, looking forward to visiting there and seeing my mum in September! Hope your foot gets better soon. I accidentally knocked a water bottle off a table and onto an acquaintance’s foot years ago, poor thing it really hurt but it was a complete accident and I apologized profusely. Anyway she basically ended our friendship after that!

Yes, this. It would be a good idea to get x-rays. I once hit my foot against a door and had a small fracture in a toe. I thought it was nothing. Two days later while I run, the fracture ended up being a broken bone.

I agree. I dropped a bar of soap on the top of my foot and had an X-ray and MRI. Luckily nothing was broken but it took a few months to heal. Better be safe!

Mine and Wally's favorite part of the video was when you were carrying that LIL PIGLET around. He looks good with your white robe. Yes it is light here until 10 pm - Seattle , WA -USA-The pigeon was found sitting at the table waiting, with a strawberry in his mouth, for Josie to make him a strawberry sconce and a spot of tea. 🥰
