I have an apartment in West Melbourne a 15 minute walk to the city centre. I love Melbourne but it is filthy. The edges of the foot paths are strewn with rubbish, cigarette butts food wrappers and various other garbage. The council has a very poor cleaning regime. Weeds also proliferate around trees and in cracks in the gutters. If you do look down you will see the rubbish. Battery scooters are left everywhere on the footpaths paths and their riders regularly use the footpaths as do cyclists. It is a beautiful, but neglected and poorly managed city.
