Yes I agree, shoes should be removed as soon as you enter the home. Wiping them with an antibacterial wipe puts my mind at rest that I have removed some dirt and bacteria. watching how your garden evolves is a delight, so please keep us updated.🌳🌱🌼🌺

I only burn natural candles with essential oils for scents. It’s amazing once you learn all the natural ways of living. I even use natural soaps and laundry soap. Natural everything is always better

Never shoes indoors. It keeps your floors much cleaner. Also, I read that if you live in the city there will always be small bits of dog feces on the bottom of your shoes and if you live in the country there will be small bits of other animal feces like rabbit, fox, etc. On the bottom of your shoes

I agree about bringing shoes in! But then I think about dogs stepping in their wee and bringing it inside the home from their paws too. And then I think people have dogs and babies and there’s never really an issue with babies crawling around and dogs running in and out of a house. 😅

Not only do I take off my shoes before entering my home but I also change my clothes before I sit anywhere in my house because you dont know how clean are the seats you've sat on, how clean was the person who sat before you, or if someone got sick

This may be an odd request but I’ve been rewatching your old videos where you’re talking about the lighting being installed in the kitchen garden and you also had lighting installed around the house for your wedding. I clean my shoes sole as well with wet wipes before they go back in cupboard. We can become quite neurotic about germs. After all they are all around us. You have dogs they come in and out and roll on the carpet. I’m sure you’ll be fine. We build up our resistance by exposure.

I’m the same with no shoes in the house. You never know what’s on the bottom of your shoes! The Hobbs event looked lovely and such lovely pieces. I never wear outdoor shoes in the house and we don’t burn candles but I have diffusers which I use essential oils as they have medicinal properties as well as being free from toxins

I live in New Zealand (from London) for 30 years and we have always get guest to take off their shoes even , I get home from work take shoes off at the door into my slippers , if we have a garden bbq with everyone same rule applies still inside , it certainly saves your plank flooring and carpet cleaning , the other toxins are your household cleaners there’s something that can affect fertility in men at least you keep fit and have a good diet you two I am sure your immunity’s are pretty good to fight off toxins x

My mom never let us wear shoes inside the house growing up and I thought she was being ridiculous. Now that I am an adult and have my own house I never wear shoes inside either. I can’t imagine wearing outside shoes inside ever. I’ll tell mom she was ahead of her time lol.

Josie, good evening! 🌿I absolutely agree, can’t wear shoes at home. In Russia, we always take off our shoes in the hallway (a small hall in an apartment where the front door is). it is hygienic and safe, including for pets🐾💌

In a Canadian household it is an absolute must to remove your shoes at the door. You should definitely institute this new rule especially if little ones are in your future……fingers crossed!

Lovely dresses from Hobbs; I must say;they're truly timeless pieces that's suitable for every occasion!!Josie,I think a good idea for you,in terms of trying to reduced toxins in your home,transported by one's shoes is;buy one of those large woven baskets,fill it with various types of house slippers(doesn't have to be expensive)and just place it right at the entrance of your door;on the inside!!!Hopefully in so doing;they'll get the message,and follow through without taking it personally...some people do.The view from the drone,just keeps getting better,until next time,all my love!!💗💗🌄😎🌻🌷

I really need to get another skin check soon. I am very blessed that I don't very many moles, which is kinda miraculous because my grandparents were quite moley especially my paternal grandfather but neither of my parents are/were. I have noticed my skin changing as I age, so I feel like it's very important. As far as shoes in the house, we don't wear shoes in our house and we live in a country house. It can be cumbersome at first but after a while it seems wrong to wear them inside. Lol

I would really like if when you add a picture or video, you could add them along side with you speaking about the item you're wearing/talking about. I used to watch Lydia Millen and she would do that and I feel it is an added touch as you watch, as you almost always mention something on/about that item, a particular flower for example, which we can hear you say about, but obviously can not see which you are referring to. Does that make any sense?? I'm not sure it does, even though I have been through and edited it, I'm still not sure I am getting across what I mean, hopefully you are a lot better at deciphering than I am explaining. Also I shared a pistachio item to your Instagram messages earlier today, I saw it and thought of you straight away, so needed to send it to you, hopefully you'll see it before the 24hrs are up xxx

Tradition of not wearing shoes has also spiritual aspect. In my culture predecessors even washed their feets when entering home to avoid negative energies which we bring on our feets.🙂

Josie - as someone so up on their health and skincare, I highly recommend that you have a closer look at the ingredients in the Eve Lom cleanser. The first ingredient being PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM, with a few other questionable ingredients. Absolutely not the best for your skin.

Germs and other nasties are really a concern. Definitely more awareness in recent years. I know of people through covid who would come home, take their shoes off and even change their clothes immediately. Also when food shopping was delivered, people would wipe down the bags before bringing them into the house. I know a lot of these habits have stuck with people here in Melbourne, where we had the longest lockdown in the world :(

Yes having no shoes in the house is a good idea. You have so many nice “house shoes” too. I sometimes take fluffy socks with me when visiting friends in winter. I have added Plum Sykes book to my wishlist and been listening to the audio sample. As a huge Jilly Cooper fan this looks like good fun (I’m currently reading The Country Set by Fiona Walker as it’s currently in Audible Unlimited). Josie our home has been a shoe free house since COVID. I have a selection of bamboo socks to provide to guests should they feel uncomfortable. Thankfully most peeps don't mind at all. Thank you for your wonderful content for us to all enjoy. L x

Everything you mentioned about wearing footwear in the home is true. Where I'm from it would be rude to walk into a home with footwear. Dirty and gross...leave your footwear out the door and wipe your fur baby paws before entering your clean home! lol

I would never wear outdoor shoes indoors always take them off before coming in as do all my friends and in their houses too. Also I would never put a handbag or shopping bag on a worktop as when you put your bags down on the floor outside you don’t know what you have picked up the bottom of the bag 🤨

I was told about a decade ago by a scientist that lit paraffin candles are carcinogenic. I love candles but I’ve stuck with battery ones ever since! Such a shame.

IMHO as much as I love candles, I prefer my essential oils in a diffuser. I buy only 100% essentials oils. I'm a big fan of woolzies, I believe they are from New Zealand.

I'll be the person no one agrees with but I feel strongly about this. If I'm invited for a nice dinner in someone's home, I do not want to be taking my shoes off or be wearing someone else's slippers. I do normally wear slippers at home but when I’m hosting, I accept the fact that people will be wearing shoes in my home without any resentment. In fact, on those occasions, I even put my shoes on. Fortunately, people around me are older and in our culture it used to literally be considered rude to ask your guests to take their shoes off so I don’t get that request.

Absolutely. If guests know in advance the no shoe policy, then they can bring slippers. But I don't see why I have to sit in a house with freezing cold feet.

Absolutely-these are special shoes, not everyday wear ones, and the guests will be far more comfortable with the shoes they carefully matched to their outfit, rather than having to go barefoot or wear slippers someone else has worn. A caring hostess will simply mop the next day.

It's respectful to respect the house you go to. Most of the world take their shoes off, from Austria in Europe to Eastern countries and our UK habits are considered VERY dirty. Your shoes have been trodden outside on tonnes of bacteria, bits of dog crap, people's spit, urine, food waste etc and carry salmonella, listeria and a host of other bacteria. It's nicer to be clean and change the outdoor shoes you came in.
