Worms catch more bass each year than almost all other techniques combined! In Summer, the big plastic worm is king in deep water. Up shallow, most anglers overlook the effectiveness of the power shot. There are tricks to consistently catching fish on worms and today we're giving you the details to consistently catch fish, even in the heat of Summer!
Shaky Heads, Drop shot, Power Shot, Texas Rig, Carolina Rig... the list is endless! There are so many ways to rig plastic worms, but when does each method shine? Which technique should you try on your next fishing trip? Pay close attention as Tim breaks down where he applies each technique and the specific baits he uses to consistently catch fish.
Below you'll find links to the exact baits, rigging components, and equipment Tim discussed in the video. We've also included our favorite sizes and colors for each method. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

You guys make me love fishing more, and hate fishing more too - I live we're the big bass are like 5-6 pounds, anything more is a fish of a lifetime. That's New England for ya.**Serious question for you two - I watch just about all of your videos and often click on your linked gear. In your gear videos you'll mention medium power or medium light, but never say out loud "extra fast action" - I see a bunch of links to extra fast action rods (medium and medium light), but never hear the words out of your mouths. Can you please do an in depth discussion about extra fast rods (when, where, why, pros/cons, length, strength, applications etc.), because there's so few videos actually discussing them. I see them often linked when you discuss finesse and sometimes jerkbait (soft and hard) fishing. Much love and thanks for all you do, peace.
@hairyfrank9177
@hairyfrank9177 2 жыл бұрын
I've thought about extra fast rods too. I've seen people talk about them on fishing forums, but they don't offer much insight. Some contradictory info too like "they're more tippy because they're extra fast" or "there's not enough tip and you lose fish." Maybe the length makes a difference there but idk, maybe just get one and see how it feels. Tight lines

@bassandtreblefishing good point, I never noticed that. I even went back through they're choosing a rod video and it was mentioned in passing, but they didn't go into detail. @TacticalBassin You guys should do a cover all video where you break down rod power+action+length applications. Like heavy/extra fast vs. Heavy/fast vs. Heavy/moderate etc. Does length make a difference with any of them? Finesse with 7ft medium fast or 7'6 medium light extra fast? Always appreciate the content, you guys rock!

I caught my PB back a few days ago on a Texas-rigged straight-tailed junebug senko. The water was a little murky from rain, so I took your advice on the color option of having the bait be a little darker than usual, and I caught a 4 lb. bass on my very first cast. I bank fish from a creek, so this one was huge compared to any other I've caught. Someday I hope I can go out on a boat to catch the big ones! Awesome videos!

This. I fish this little pond near my place and have caught 8 bass within an hour or two during the spring transition into summer. But since then I can barely catch one, and sometimes spend 3-4 hours catching nothing. I will say I’m addicted to frog fishing and spend like 90% of the time on the frog and get about one or two good blow ups per hour but no catch. The few times I try soft plastic worms or craws they just don’t bite. The muck is ridiculous. It’s covered practically 60% of the pond so I feel like I’m forced to top water, which is even better because I love froggies. But they don’t always bite so I’m at a loss for what lure to use. Crank baits and chatterbaits are good but I don’t use them for long because no matter where I cast it picks up the muck. Im thinking a jig or buzzbait. Haven’t tried either of them yet but I’ll have to see.

@@Radbiker33357 thanks for the feedback. I'm interested if Tim thinks there's a worm solution since he's fond of ponds. I like topwater too, but when they're not blowing-up, I think I'll try subsurface. Something like a 0 to 2ft square bill, or Megabass I-Loud prop bait. It's usually trial & error on any given day. I don't particularly like slowing down to worms, HOWEVER I like big bass. So, whatever it takes. Tim, chime in!!

@@Radbiker33357 Since you baits pick up mud, they must be hitting bottom. Have you tried lighter versions or retrieving them faster? Have you tried dropshot with floating worms or creature baits, yet? Dropshot weights drag in the mud while the bait suspends above the bottom, so long as your line is tight and rod tip is up. Also, frogs aren’t the only top water baits.

Man slimy nasty grass is the worst.vIf you can fish the edge of the grass Id go with either the drop shot or Texas rig. If that doesn't work throw a frog LOL

Hey love your vids, ima newbie pretty much. Can i attach a xtra hook on down toward end of huge worm for xtra insurance, like when I try to set hook to early. If fish is holding lower end of worm. Hope this makes since, Thanks a million for help!!

@williamgould2470 2 жыл бұрын
Not really, just follow Tim's advice on how to set the hook. If your body of water has mostly small fish in it, just use a smaller worm.As a side note,many years ago creame made a prerigged worm with 3 hooks.Then came the Texas rig and they stopped making them
@SolidMango-gh3jk
@SolidMango-gh3jk 2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can. It’s called a stinger hook. Until you get your confidence up hook setting and catching a few fish. Then just take it off. Then if you see they are always short bitting just the tail. Switch to shorter worms or different baits they may eat more.

The biggest problem with adding a stinger to a worm is that it is inevitably gonna hook fish deep in the throat or gills leading to their death. You're alot better off just useing the one hook and getting used to letting them have it a second before you set the hook. Another hook will also add up to more hang ups and not going through grass as well but thats is nothing compared to the first problem I mentioned.

Ever try a football head jig for your big worm fishing? I have found it works really well when dragging a worm and it even catches bass if you want to sit and shake the worm too
