SUMMIT FEVER IN THE ENCHANTMENTS OF WASHINGTON'S ALPINE LAKES WILDERNESS AND CASCADE MOUNTAIN RANGE

The Enchantments are located in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness near Leavenworth, Washington and are home to incredible alpine lakes and towering craggy peaks. The Enchantments are also located within the Cascade Mountain Range. The incredibly gorgeous Colchuck Lake is the icon of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness and a bucket list hike for many people. Colchuck Lake Trail is very popular and for good reason as Colchuck Lake is one of the most beautiful alpine lakes in the country. Colchuck Peak and Dragontail Peak loom high above Colchuck Lake giving a perfect reflection during most of the day. The Enchantments Trail loop is a must if you are in the area but if you want more spice look no further than the scramble and climb up Aasgard Pass and Dragontail Peak! This adventure is over 12 miles out and back and 5,500+ feet of elevation gain, making this a full day in Washington's alpine! The Enchantments area could be the best and most beautiful mountains in Washington. There are plenty of adventure possibilities with over 700 alpine lakes and ponds located in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. The nearby Bavarian themed town of Leavenworth is a great place to stay and explore as well.

We'll just have to get back up there again sometime in the future! I was just across the ridge-line on Cashmere Mountain looking at the entire Enchantments skyline, soooo beautiful from up there! Cheers!

Aw, what a bummer! I was rooting for you guys, because the view from up top is spectacular! 3,000 feet above the lake. After a couple attempts, I finally made it in September '22, and took a diagonal route across the snowfield with just short spikes and poles. You can see the preferred line at about @7:35 in this video that drops you in the middle of the ridge. It IS very steep, and I had a bear waiting for me at the top!

We were totally bummed after all that work. Can’t believe we just didn’t bring the crampons, then no problem. Sounds like you had a perfect summit day with a bear greeting you at the top 👍🏼😳! I had a friend send me a pic from the summit the other day but he was totally socked in with clouds. I think I’ll be back someday👍🏼! Thanks for watching!

You might not have made the summit but you are achieving new peaks with your video editing. You are making some really nice polished and fun to watch stuff and you are taking it to the next level. You don't want to get yourself in trouble on steep ice like that without crampons and a proper belay. Smart move to turn around and be on time for dinner. Thanks for sharing from the Cascades, I have always wanted to get up there and see it. Keep those great videos coming, your fans are always hungry for more.

Knowing when to call it is what matters most. Great shot there. Ever end up making it back for summit? Just put in for a permit for the enchantments see how that goes.

It was hard to turn around that close. I'll never not bring crampons if I know there's snow up high anymore that's for sure 🤣. We haven't been back unfortunately but someday I'd love to try again. Good luck with the permit 👍🏼 maybe try to crush it in a day if you don't get the permit 💪🏼.

Thanks Jason. I was just out there a couple weeks ago on a peak across the canyon. While we were looking at it from Cashmere Mountain, my friend was saying we should do it as a loop someday. I'm pretty sure I'll be back to attempt it again in the future! I can't imagine how the range would have looked from up there. Cheers!

nice vid. i think you guys made the right call, always next time. At that time of year its pure ice as much of the snow had melted. I did it about a month earlier then you and i brought 14pt crampons, and was glad i did. Ill have my vid up of it soon.

We were actual there in 2022...I'm always way behind with releasing our adventures. We talked with some guys working in Leavenworth that said we didn't need any equipment. Last time I'll go against my instincts. I'll be back on that summit someday 😄

You top on these peaks and you are at a special place. Great views if clear. And of course, Rainier is always there looming. You like views go to Chinook Pass Loop over Sourdough Pass then hit the peaks above Crystal Lake. Naches is doable but I would put the time into Crystal side over sourdough. Chinook Pass is a lot of bang for your buck, do it from Ellensburg/Yakima/Leavenworth. Walk the Naches Peak Trail from the west side go up come back down. If doing the peak just straight up it from Bridge over the road. I leave WA in June, late June it is all still frozen. I come back in August and start all these. Never regretted any day out and about in the West no matter how miserable. People asked me why do you do that? I did from 2008 until now nonstop all over the age of 50. If I had known I would have moved out at 17. Never look back. Would have worked seasonally my whole life in parks. YOu can do Ranger. Academy is 11 weeks, but who wants to be a ranger, my sister, lol. Get a class A CDL learn to drive heavy equipment.

It was a long long day but a great day even though we didn't summit. I think we made the correct choice. Now we bring all the equipment we might need, just in case. I had a fun time making that video, thanks! That ice sheet took a chunk out of my knuckle on the way up, it took FOREVER to heal. Cheers!
