Pen Y Fan - Cribyn - Mountain Hiking in the Brecon Beacons - FULL VIDEO. Back during the August Bank Holiday Weekend, Trev and Nath thought they would sneak one last summer mountain hike in, and so off to the Brecon Beacon's they went, in South Wales.
With their hiking gear ready backpacks prepped, they set out once again to conquer some up, taking in the highest point among the beacon's, and its neighbouring summits too in this Pen Y Fan walk.
Since they were hiking beginners, they have taken in some fantastic sights on walks in Dartmoor, Snowdon, and the Lake District, and often in some miserable weather, however, this first excursion into the training ground of the SAS was blessed with beautiful weather, blue skies and fluffy white clouds, creating some absolutely stunning landscapes to be filmed and photographed.

Doing Pen Y Fan in a couple of weeks so had to check out this old vid from the Summit or Nothing boys, still makes me chuckle 👍

Helpful tip when you are on a path or ridge and your not quite sure where on the ridge as you were in the video. Get your altimeter out and see how high you are, then look along the ridge where the contour lines match your hight and its a good indication as to where approximately you are. You can then take two or three references and transfer to map giving an even better idea of location. Stay safe lads, reduce loads as you look like pack horses. Enjoy watching.

Ah at 27 mins. Exactly how I feel Nath. I love people coming up and doing what I do, except when I'm doing the film!!! After that fine. I have been known to rant at airline pilots!! Brill film. I'm hoping to get full time internet soon so I can watch everything you do as it's fab! Well done chaps. Paul.

I’ve just started walking about a month ago,great for mental health as long as fitness,I’m in South Wales,great video & has inspired me to do this same route,can you just clear that if I went up from the gate you finished at would I pass the Tommy memorial,forgive me if it’s obvious, once again all the best to you both ,thanks Neil.

JENNIFER MILLARD Haha. Yea it was busy, but we knew it would be. We always go to the highest points first and get them out the way, so hopefully the crowds will begin to reduce as we progress. I’d hate it if you didn’t try and pronounce the welsh language I struggle myself and I live 40 mins away from pen y fan ....I love watching your videos ....as well as some others on here they have all brightened up a dark wet winter ....keep them coming ...Dave Port Talbot South Wales.

Great to see you guys do this! I haven't done Pen Y Fan for over a year now and that's partly because of the crowds (I haven't done Snowdon at all). But I do recommend the Black Mountains to the east and parts of the Brecon Beacons away from the centre (Pen Cerrig-Calch, Pen All Mawr, Crug Mawr). So much quieter. Sugar Loaf is another... Not officially a mountain and probably half as busy as Pen Y Fan.

Funny y0ou should say that. On day two of our beacons trip we were gonna take in Sugar loaf but ended up going for Fan Y Big instead. And a lot of people have recommended Black MOuntains so definitley on our list of to dos. Thaks for watching, Olly. All the best!

Well done. I did it from the other end a few weeks back, we did corn du to Pen Y Fan, to Cribyn and then back again. That hike back up to Pen Y Fan after coming down from Cribyn was a killer! However at the other car park there is a bacon roll van that is well worth checking out! There is a route called the fan dance that takes in a few other peaks as well but I haven't tried it yet.

Only just came across this video! I was on cribyn + pen-y-fan last March, snow everywhere and it was a scramble up cribyn along the ridge you went down. The route up cribyn was much harder than up pen-y-fan!

@@SummitOrNothing I did it again in August with my 8 year old son, we ended up setting up camp on the trail as the weather turned really quickly. Thank God for titanium pegs. He enjoyed the experience and was amazed by the friendless of people on the trails. Keep up the good work.

@@Choccytube Ah wow. Great to get your son out on the trail too, although I bet it got a bit hairy in the bad weather. Hope it hasn't put him off though. My son has just began to show an interest too so maybe he will join me up a mountain or two at some point.

Also if you want less people, try The Rhinogs, fawr and fach. But make sure you can map read as the tracks disappear and its like the bad lands up there. Enjoy
