This is the second time watching this video after hearing of Grand Design owners being told that Sumosprings are responsible for frame failures in their units. Dustin from Wayward Waggs answered my question about Sumosprings on his Paradigm. He said they haven’t had any problems. After a year are you in favor of Sumosprings? They really look like they are a great investment.

Sorry for just getting back to you now. We have not had any issues with ours either. The only challenge is that when you want to check torque on your U Bolt nuts I have to loosen the Sumosprings to get access. Not a big deal, once installed, making this adjustment is not that hard. On the GD owner, i do not know how a hard piece of rubber could bend a steel frame. So for us, it was worth the investment.

We put them on just before our summer trip, it really just protection from breaking another spring. It keeps the springs from inverting on a really big bump. At the same time i replaced all my brakes, bearings and tires, it was a big job and my body took two weeks to recover, haha. Larry

I drive a 2016 Expedition EL. Pull a Apex Nano 194BHS. Not nearly as heavy as you 5th wheeler’s. I’ve got the power (Full Race Intercooler, throttle body spacer, and dyno tune); this gives me 603lbs/ft of torque at the rear wheels. What I don’t have is the suspension pickup’s have. At 3600lbs empty my suv squats a bit in the rear. Got a weight distributing hitch. Just need a little more. Install the Sumo Springs on the Expedition’s rear coils. Was afraid it would make the truck ride stiff. Fortunately, that was not the case. Still rides good. Actually, the suspension feels more solid when I punch the accelerator; doesn’t squat rearward as much. Have yet to pull the RV since the install. After watching this video it would seem a good idea to install the springs on the RV to compliment the truck install.

We had installed Timbrens on our F350 ( I dont think Sumo Springs had them for our model year when we purchased them in 2021. Made a huge difference in squat and lateral stability. The beauty of them is that they are passive, meaning that they only engage when placing load on the truck bed since they sit about an inch bellow the bump stock so when load is removed, the are not stiffening the rear. If tou do get the Sumo's pat attention to the mounting type over or under axle and the weight rating.. Thanks for watching and commenting.

So far so good. Added another 1000 miles since the video was made and it definitely helps. Still get some “bowling pins” in the cabinet. But they can’t solve really crummy roads. Thanks for watching.

We added them to our Alliance 382RK. Also added to our 2023 GMC Denalli Dually. It' feels smongee at times and yet hard another times. I have watched alot of videos on both the setups for the truck and trailer. If I had to rate, I would give it a B-. They aren't air bags, it's cheaper, so you get what you pay for. Not sure if I had to redo which direction I would go.
@TheRoadSMITHS

I agree on the rating, although I guess neither is a scientific measurement. Haha. I know they have made a difference but not as much as an IS would do, but they cost 10X or 20X less. I put Timbrens ( same concept) on the Truck 2 years ago and I can see when we put the 5ver on the hitch it keeps us pretty much level. I like the fact that I don't have to air up/down with those.

We purchased them at the Alliance Rally in May but have yet to get them installed. I've made a run at it twice; however, the propane line is in the way, and it runs on the opposite side of the hydraulic line from yours and when trying to move the hydraulic line we couldn't get enough travel to move the propane line out of the way. I thought of trying to find where the propane line terminates and reroute it but haven't yet. We have an appointment to get MORryde IS installed in May of 2023 so we may just wait it out. Good video!
@TheRoadSMITHS

Thanks...You would think they would be more standard but they are not. If you are getting the IS then no need for these. I would love that just did not want to wait that long. Which Alliance do you have?

Thanks for watching and subscribing. The Sumo Springs definitely help. We left Tallahassee recently on the way to Panama City and we realized we forgot to latch/lock the refrig after about 15 miles of highway driving. We pulled into a rest area and were expecting the worst. When we opened the RV door, the refrig was still closed and a bag of groceries left on the counter was still sitting there. I did have to move a line to install but was not too bad.

Great video Ken! We have the MORryde independent suspension but these springs seem to be a very affordable alternative. Maybe we’ll see you at the 2023 Florida RV Supershow in Tampa? We are in Ruskin, FL now. Hope to meet you guys soon. Pete

Thanks. We would love to have the Independent Suspension...but the wait was just so long. The Sumo Springs are an affordable option and they have made a difference. We will be at the Tampa Show and working the Alliance Booth on Wed Jan 18th from 3-5. so come on by. We have never been to this show before so we are not sure what to expect really.

@@TheRoadSMITHS Yeah, we scheduled the independent suspension well before we even got our Grand Design Momentum 395ms-r and we were fortunate to be able to get it done in October. So, I guess we will be looking for you at the Alliance booth. This show is a first for us as well. We get the opportunity to meet the "RV Unplugged" group even though we have met "Today is Someday/You, Me and the RV" and of course our mutual friends, "Our Everyday Getaway". See you there!

I added Timbrens in early 2021( same concept) not sure Sumo had these available for a 1 ton Super Duty In early 2021. But I will say emphatically the Timbrens helped with Squat and lateral stability on the truck.

Hi Kevin...thanks for watching and the compliment. On the Sumo Springs, yes we are happy with them. They do seem to reduce the vibrations significantly in the 5ver. I installed Timbrens ( same concept) on our truck after the first couple of tows and they help as well with sag and lateral stability. I seem to remember that Sumo did not have these for our 2020 F350 at the time.
