I have alway wanted to be the fireman definitely or maybe even the engineer on the remarkable little whistle, I love everything about it, the fuel, the stack, the whistle, the bell, and the headlight. I also love the dynamo/turbo generator pipe (molded to stack shape.) Hope someday I can be the fireman on the 3.

I just had a hell of a time replacing u-joints on my small pickup. Can’t imagine having to do them on this beast😂

Magnificent Engine! i just can’t sand the whine from the dynamo turbine though.

Now's the time to go visit because she's the only working steam engine on the railroad since 19 is out of commission indefinitely due to the FRA 1472 day inspection, leaving the Heisler as the main work horse.

Heislers look more human like than that of a shay, and there is something about them that gives them more personality than that of a shay which is what makes them my favorite type of engine. It's amazing that 10 of them survive in operation. Shays are also awesome and really capture the human eye's attention. :)

This is different. I had never seen one like this before.

All I want is a solid shot of the underbelly of this amazing beast in motion as it follows zoomed in on all that motion.

if only they had a narrow gauge steam locomotive type class climax on this railroad. but they do look. more. kind sprited. and little human est personality. and sure the shay is ok however. it reminds me of the hunch back of noterdame. with a lopsided shoulders

I noticed the wood-fired engines don't throw the smoke like the coal-fired ones do that they run in WV.

I see of course depends where you go in the west, there are of course large areas of desert which would have next to no life on them, lol

How come they never made a four engine set up instead of just the two engine set up? Wouldn’t it make for a stronger pulling engine if they had two per side.

wood and not coal? not as much heat or power, though I guess with the open top it is a bit cleaner for people to breath and smell after all.

Terrific camera work. We males interested in this sort of stuff need to know HOW things work, not just promotional tourist material. Has a Heisler, or a Shay, suffered wheel slip, for example? If not, why not?
