Just to add, the 13th form basically is a dance connecting all other forms. So Tanjirou can dance continuously without getting tired. Is the ultimate move for Muzan because the only way to beat him is by the sun not by cutting off his head, so the forever dance is to keep muzan in place till the sun rises. You dont lose any stamina in the dance, is like dancing disease in france.

Sun and Sound breathing are the ONLY exceptions to the “special effects” rule. Sun breathing slows down demon regeneration even without crimson blades, and Daki said she felt an absurd wave of searing pain from the wound, that’s CLEARLY not just for show, it’s THE original breathing style for a reason! Every other style tries to imitate exactly that but none succeed, so some use Bombs and Poison to simulate the elements (sound and insect)

I like to believe that even though the elements being used are not physically present, they are visible not only to the user but to other demon slayers and to the demons they fight. My personal headcanon is that there isn't necessarily any additional effect (water breathing doesn't make the surrounding area wet at all, fire breathing doesn't burn its targets, etc.) but it is visible to anyone who it's relevant to. So demons and demon slayers, the user and those watching, can see it.

I do believe that the particles really ARE there, as the mist hashira could literally summon and hide himself in his mist, The mother demon tanjiro killed could feel the water and the rain, and when zenitsu used six fold characters could hear the thunder sound and flame's 9th form, I don't need to explain that.

The effects of the attacks depend on the user the stronger the user the more the effects take place. So most of it is visualization to a certain degree. The sword themselves can project certain elemental effect if the user can draw them out with effective breathing and training. Some demons mentioned feeling burning but not always seeing them. Upper moon one had extra blades and tanjiro could burn enemies with his attacks so while the effects are there if the user isn’t strong enough then the visuals won’t show.

The visual effects we see by the breath users a majority of the time are actually there. There are times when it is exaggerated for dramatic effect (Giyu's dead calm and maybe even insect breathing's butterflies) but moments like Tanjiro's fight with the Arrow demon, or Rengoku scorching the earth proves otherwise.

So many people hate the fact that the effects aren’t real and say they’re “just for show.” But they’re not, it’s evident that demons can see how a Slayer’s movements mirror the element they use. I think if the opponent or ally is skilled enough, the effects appear for them as they follow the movements.

I always found it weird they aren’t actually using like water wheel and shit like that, just visualizing. But yet they get this demon slayer mark that gives them super natural strength and insight into the unseen world lol

I think that there is actually a name for the 13th form, and we hear that name a lot too. Tanjiro and his family basically have as a tradition to perform the 13th form at the start of every year, and they basically gave the name to that technique. So I personally think that the name of the 13th form is actually “dance of the fire god”. Yuurichi may have not named the technique himself, but the family of his best friend did, showing the bond that they have with him

It's literally demonstrated in the manga that the Dance of the Fire God can be performed until sunrise and that consists of all the forms being used by breathing correctly you wont get tired. So the name for Thirteenth form would basically be "Hinokami Kagura" Lit. Dance of the Fire God.

I think there is a little bit of the elements when they do the forms, in the fight against the arrow demon tanjiro catches the arrows in the horizontal water wheel, against rui he “burns” the threads as rui himself says it, and when rengoku slices the fake dream demons, their necks show burn marks

I know you mentioned the part about the elements being all symbolism... which is what I thought at first, but you literally see explosions happening in certain fights (Rengoku's fight for example). Unless the explosions are all for symbolism too (which doesn't make sense because you see people get blown away and cover their eyes), I don't recall swords being able to create explosions.

Heres Why I Believe The Elements Are Real, Based On What Ive Seen/Gathered So Far Tanjiro Was Able To Save Himself In The Air During The Hayaba Fight, Swing A Sword Down That High Up Like That Would Break Your Bones. During The Pre Battle Emnu Fight, When Tanjiro Had His Sword To His Neck, The Water Dragon FInished Him Off Daki Noticed That His Forms Switched Up, Doing A Dance Differently Doesnt Have Something Noticed Like That. Daki Could Feel The Burning Pain When He Used Burning Bones. 9th Form, The When The Tiger Collided With Akaza's Attack. Battle With Kokoshibu, Kokoshibu Was Able To Litterally See The Mist, Muchiro Made. and this could be kokoshibus demon art mixed with his breathing, but muchiro was able to see the tiny moon blades from kokoshibu. TANJIRO WAS LITTERALLY ABLE TO SLICE A BOULDER. i havent really read the manga, ive only seen clips of it, so this is just my thoughts

Hinokami Kagura and sun breathing are actually not the same thing. Hinokami Kagura is only a mere imitation of the legendary breathing style passed down the generations to honour the Sun God and Yoriichi. That is why Tanjiro only names his attacks sun breathing in the manga when he performs some flashback dojutsu and remembers his inherited memory of Yoriichi performing his sword moves to Sumiyoshi. Sun breathing is a breathing style made only to kill demons, or specifically Muzan Jackson.

Idk but Sun Breathing can be inspired from Surya Namaskar(Sun Salutation) which also has 12 steps. And you can complete one big form combining all other steps to complete 1 round of Surya Namaskar. Surya namaskar for those who don't know is a kind of yogasans. It translates to Sun salutation. Which improves your body posture,strength and breathing capacity

I do think the Elements are there but they do not act like they would on nature. I feel like you could sense and see water but it's not going to make the whole place wet or with fire burn everything to the ground.

Well, I think the reason hearing that it's just for visuals is because the breathing styles are sometimes referred to as katana magic. Besides considering jojo was one of the key inspirations to demon slayer , is it really that much of a stretch that people see the different breathing styles of sometimes other worldly.

I have a theory, and that is the idea that everyone can use sun breathing, it's just Yorichii is the only one who can pick it up initially without suffering complete exhaustion, and I have another theory, that users of sun breathing are the only people able to live past 25 with the mark. I know this sounds crazy but hear me out, it's clear that Yorichii didn't want to teach sun breathing to the other hashira at the time cause he assumed they couldn't handle it, and it's no wonder he thought this way, tanjiros first use of sun breathing completely tired him out to the point he couldn't move muscle or finger tanjiros dad said he suffered the same symptoms, we can use this as a basis to what sun breathing does to the user, that it completely tires the user out upon first use (unless you're Yorichii the goat frfr). If these were the symptoms its no wonder Yorichii thought people couldn't handle sun breathing, but tanjiros dad and even tanjiros himself make it plainly obvious that the more you use sun breathing the more you get used to it, tanjiros and his dad don't have the superhuman capabilities of Yorichii yet they are able to use sun breathing. Imagine if Yorichii kept trying to teach people sun breathing, you'd have a whole demon slayer corps full of people running around using sun breathing without tiring out, muzan would be shitting bricks. But I have another theory, that the users of sun breathing don't die after they awaken their mark, it's said that the mark kills the bearers after 25 because it strains the bearers bodies to much, but it's said that sun breathing allows you to effortlessly live and even expend energy without tiring out, tanjiros had the mark and I'm pretty sure he lived past 25, though this theory is a little iffy because we only have Yorichii and tanjiros to base off of since they ate the only ones with noticeable marks (and im 90% sure tanjiro awakened his mark after the red light district), I'm also not completely sure tanjiro lived past 25 though since we don't see him reincarnate I'm assumign he did and lived his life to the fullest and was content with his life. Let me hear your thoughts about this theory I always thought it was strange that tanjiro (a normal human being somewhat) was able to live mostly like Yorichii did, with being able to use sun breathing, see into the see through world, and even possibly live past 25 with the mark, though Yorichii is still superhuman as fuck since he was able to to solo muzan in a good 5 seconds, it's clear that tanjiros has somewhat lived liked Yorichii and even carried a lot of his qualities in strength, I'll continue practicing breathing with meditation.
